Where do I start with Neil Young? All I've heard is Buffalo Springfield and Harvest, and while I enjoy the country rock sounds of both albums, I've heard that Young is extremely eclectic. I'm really into 70's hard rock/heavy metal (steppenwolf, blue cheer, etc.) So where does one begin with Neil Young? I cant believe no one has made a flowchart yet, can we band together and make one? I dunno.

This man is a memer don't trust him.
Listen to Zuma, On the Beach, Broken Arrow, Sleeps With Angels, and then just pick random albums and listen to them.

If you like his rock music check out any album of his with his band Crazy Horse.
Live Rust is my favorite
If you like the more acoustic folky stuff check out: After the Gold Rush, Live at massey hall, Everyone knows this is nowhere, Harvest Moon
The hard rock stuff, which I'm not a huge fan of, but even Neil at his worst his pretty good, check out: Rust Never Sleeps, Freedom, and Ragged Glory
Sounds lame but i'd start with his greatest hits. He has a stack of albums and they are all worth trawling through. Essentials for me are
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
Zuma
On The Beach
Harvest
After The Gold Rush
Tonight's The Night
Live Rust
He also wrote Buffalo Springfield's greatest song

Live Rust
Live at the Fillmore East
Everybody Knows This is Nowhere
Solo:
After the Gold Rush
On the Beach
Harvest
Tonight's the Night
Live at Massey Hall 1971
On the Beach is his best. Also listen to Rust Never Sleeps, After the Goldrush, and Tonights the Night
