Soul Love, Oh you pretty things, a ton of others that my brain refuses to remember. A ton of his songs have traces of that cheesey shit though, im just not a fan.
The album I've listened to the most of his is Station to Station and even then its only been 3 listens. There's just something Liberace about it I don't like.
>>
Bowie's fine but he's more of a crafty guy with a good ear than some singular GOAT perfect adaptable pop genius.

Mick Ronson's production and arrangements were as important to the Ziggy era as Bowie's songwriting, Berlin era records were Tony Visconti, Brian Eno, Robert Fripp records as much as they were Bowie's and Nile Rodgers deserves the TOP credit on Let's Dance.

>>60631673
Fripp was only on "Heroes". the trilogy was a collaborative effort between Bowie, Eno, and Visconti
>>
>>60631919
Yeah, that's the best one isn't it?
>>
>>60631239
Nice argument.

Obviously there's the massive amount of "glam" in his image, which can be annoying, but I've always found his work overall to be creative, use interesting harmonies, and to capture the kid-like feeling of wanting to go to space. Of course this >>60631673 is true, but the music coming out under his name is difficult to call shit.

"Bowie is the enemy"
-Stephen Malkmus
>>
>>60631372
Animal Collective is probably the most hated artist here m8
>>
>>60631669
Get fucked. Oh! You Pretty Things is a GOAT-tier Bowie song.
>>
>>60633035
I think it's my favorite off of Hunky Dory.
>>
/mu/ is contrarian and retarded

if you think he's a hack, consider that you're not actually in a good position to judge that kind of thing

he's not my favorite artist ever, he's done a lot of forgettable stuff, and sometimes he sings terribly. but his contributions to music are considerable, and when he gets it right he can do a really amazing job
>>
>>60633218
I'm pretty much with you except he's one of my favorite artists. I personally believe he has had one of the longest "perfect" album streaks than any other musician. (The Man Who Sold The World to Scary Monsters and Super Creeps).
>>
Moo hates music.
>>
>>60631673

Whatever man. One only needs to listen to what those artists did without Bowie to realize that Bowie was running the show.
>>
I think Bowie's cool
I think lodger rules
Etc
>>
>>60633481

Nigga what the fuck are you talking about? Do you even know who those people are?
>>
>David Bowie turned marketing into the essence of his art. All great phenomena of popular music, from Elvis Presley to the Beatles, had been, first and foremost, marketing phenomena (just like Coca Cola and Barbie before them); however, Bowie turned that into an art of its own. With Bowie the science of marketing becomes art; art and marketing become one. There were intellectuals who had proclaimed this theory in rebellious terms. Bowie was, in many ways, the heir, no matter how perverted, of Andy Warhol's pop art and of the underground culture of the 1960s. He adopted some of the most blaspheme issues and turned them upside down to make them precisely what they had been designed to fight: a commodity.
>>
>>60635168

Sure I do and only a pleb would believe that the contributors were more important than Bowie was on those albums. In fact if you were to say to Eno or Fripp that they had a comparible contribution on those albums to Bowie, who sculpted them, they'd probably laugh in your face if not just slap you.
>>
>>60635243
Scaruffi?
>>
>>60635243

Nah I'm pretty sure he just did a fuck ton of drugs and hung around geniuses until he got money and industry clout to hire geniuses to hang around him.
>>
>>60635261

But you just made this up.
>>
>>60631673
>Mick Ronson

Yet Ronson's solo work is dull and unoriginal. Rodgers claims far too much credit for Lets Dance which sounds totally unlike anything else he worked on. Eno was totally butthurt about being sidelined for Lodger which in hindsight was a groundbreaking album introducing world music to the mainstream. Fripp played guitar on a few songs. Being a pleb you ignore some of the real powerhouses behind Bowie, such as Dennis Davis and Carlos Alomar.
