Palma violets- 180 is a lot like it but not as good. Also The Libertines- Up the Bracket is a lot like it but they are often compared so you probably already know about it.
Honestly never even understood the hype about this one. Like sure, there's plenty of hugely acclaimed albums I don't like, but at least I understand why they are considered great. If I didn't know any better, I would just think of Is This It as your run-of-the-mill rock album.

Julian Casablancas tried to copy Reed's vocal style, the guitar tones are practically ripped from TVU&N, they use the same style of interlocking guitar leads. Listen to modern age by the strokes and then listen to I'm waiting for the man and tell me they didn't copy the style.

It's a pretty good album. I wouldn't say it's amazing or anything, but it's enjoyable. It's main flaw is that many of the songs sound too similar.
