Blackstar is a Black Hole that resides in the centres of the galaxies. Bowie's new album will be a philosophical dive into the universe and life. He also possibly refers to himself as the centre of all life, maybe to say that all life is equal and all equals all. We are life, we are Blackstar.

The comment section of the video is so cancerous

"Can you Christians keep your shit to yourself and not put it in the comments...you obviously don't know who David Bowie and plus the lyrics don't even say anything satanic. Although I find the music video weird but you know it's David Bowie. Bottom-Line, keep your shit to yourself, you almost complain about lots of Rock songs. Look David Bowie has amazing visions for his music. So honestly just keep your beliefs to yourself. I don't care for religion and you believe in what you want but when you're shoving this type of shit down my throat I get pissed. So do me and the Fans of David Bowie a favor and Fuck. Off."

+Derek Price (electricWildflower) Well, it's because they see things in those terms and everything must be framed within that so have a radar for symbols and interpret them to fit their beliefs. Atheists will recognise the religious overtones but just see someone using them to provoke response and make a comment about religion itself (and the people involved). Christians will interpret the occult references to be saying something about Bowie himself and his affiliations. I'm not religious so whether someone is Christian, Satanist (same belief system, opposite side, so similar), Occultist, Spiritualist, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Scientologist, etc....it's all the same to me."

Gira is actually pretty interesting from a religious standpoint. He was raised catholic, and says that even though he doesn't really follow anything he still is spiritual. But then you look at Children of God. I think he appreciates religion but despises the hypocrisy of the church institution and the blind faith involved.
>>
>>60631459
>I think he appreciates religion but despises the hypocrisy of the church institution and the blind faith involved.

So he's just like every other edgelord. Complaining about religious hypocrisy usually just means "They have a moral code that makes me feel bad, so they must be hypocrites", and "blind faith" usually means "I want to follow my impulses instead of thousands of years of tradition".

Metallic KO is the best live album I've ever heard.

As someone who is a huge fan of Bowie and knows a bit about this sort of thing and the lyrical content he's citing, it seems like he's reeeeaally reaching at a couple Occult references and themes Bowie admitted to that he explored at the time and had abandoned long since, or continued to cannibalize.

It's important to remember Bowie's like a born-again Christian, which makes current renewed accusations of Satanism that much funnier. He mostly does it for the imagery and the art, I don't think there's much more to it.

>The Saudi's influence isn't because of their religion -focused culture, it's because they've got so much oil.

Lots of people have oil, retard. The reason the Saudis (and nations like them) are influential is because they do their oil trade with the USD. America wants to retain its status as global economic hegemon, so we need to play nice with them. Otherwise our currency might start to lose its status as the global standard.

I love this song, I feel like he knows how important the berlin trilogy and he is trying to experiment again, good stuff very good stuff

Tail end of the Thin White Duke stuff. He wrote Word on a Wing. Also check out the Nassau 76 version of I'm Waiting for the Man. Bob Dylan became born-again around the same years.

Later Bowie would lead Wembley stadium in the Lord's Prayer during the Freddie Mercury Memorial concert after the GOAT live version of Heroes reunited with Mick Ronson on lead guitar.

Tony Visconti produced Heroes and Low.

Being involved with David Byrne void anything else good here.

So you guys have heard "Sue" right? It's confirmed to be on the Blackstar album along with the title track.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFX1y62l9C4

Does anyone find that odd? Besides a few little ticks here and there it's fairly a fairly safe jazz kind of tune, but Blackstar is way out there.

What's that about?
>>
>>60641303
Maybe because Blackstar is the opening track they went overdrive
>>
>>60641303

I dunno, I've been listening to plenty of orchestral jazz like Maria Schneider and link related, and Sue is a pretty wild tune IMHO.

Something isn't reddit just because you don't like it. Bowie isn't reddit at all, he's never talked about on there. Bands like Tool and Queen are circlejerked about and worshipped like they're the greatest bands of all time. That's what makes a musician reddit

I found this song average and not experimental at all, and I liked The Next Day, one of which's criticism was that the songs were "too safe".

It's just not interesting enough to justify its ten minutes.
