I think we can all agree this is the best rap album of this year.
Also the video for "these walls"is goat
indeed
>>60611030
yes, but alright video is better desu
I liked Rodeo a lot more but It's dumb to compare the two.
>>60611030
Still cant pick between this and his previous album
Really under rated but I think Free Weezy was a great album this year
>>60611030
Couch Potato
It's good for about 10 listens. Don't confuse density with depth.
>>60611030
I did the same Senpai and it really is.
>>60611030
You mean the only worth listening.
>>60612654
damn what an annoyingly pretentious thing to say
>>60612654
I understand the sentiment but I just don't agree. You're telling me the album's execution doesn't reach it's ambition? In what way?
>>60611030
honestly I like the themes and content of the album better than its actual execution. The music itself felt a little forced to me. I have trouble going back to it.
I like Tetsuo & Youth, Thumbs, Compton, Every Hero Needs A Villain, and Documentary 2.5 all a little better. To Pimp A Butterfly is still pretty great though.
>>60613361
pretty sure he said why. the music feels forced.
>>60613536

I would have agreed up until I heard Third Side of Tape. It's fucking phenomenal and you should check it out. Just my opinion tho.

please tell me how insightful you find John Oliver.

The only analogy I can come up with right now is that you probably wouldn't take a stew and throw all your favorite dishes and ingredients into it.
>>60611030
mfw an infinitely deeper and better produced, more conceptual album gets shitted on bc pitchfork never reviewed it, but this one gets named aoty
>>60616119
i agree its better than TPAB but it inst album of the year. maybe as far as rap goes, yea. angry kid was a lot more ambitious than anything ive heard since GKMC. kendrick tier for sure but there have been better albums this year.

I'm actually a maximalist and overseason my food so I'd kind of disagree with you there. The record's instrumentals aren't too varied either. All the songs for the most part sound jazzy, full of resonant, warm basslines, and tight drums (save for Alright). And even that track has sax doesn't it? And there are only a couple different influences throughout the whole record, which is in contrast to Third Side of Tape, which someone mentioned on here as superior.
>>60616119
I listened to this, but thought it was underproduced desu. His raps weren't that good either...
>>60616119
i downloaded it but didnt listen yet. wish i contribute to the conversation :( i liked the first track but thats all i heard.
