I'm very surprised how strong it remains. We're still seeing a lot of very young MCR fangirls when they broke up in 2013, and hadn't released an album since 2010. It's been half a decade since we last heard of MCR, yet they still get a lot of new young fans.

honestly Three Cheers and Black Parade were the pinnacle of that whole emo-pop thing that was really popular a few years ago. I tell all these hipsters that are nostalgic for taking back sunday and all that shit that they never even came close to touching MCR and everyone acts like I'm crazy

you're right anon, MCR is the best of these bands desu, and also the most varied, every album approched the genre from diferent side. relatively agressive Bulletts, Traditional but extraordinarily catchy and well combosed emo-pop of cheers followed by the rock opera of TBP. The last album, danger days is not as enjoyable for me, but desu is fits well into their narrative of overcoming personal issues after all, I can't even imagine what it must have felt like when you were 17 yo fan of a band since their debut, and seing that second music video from dd with deaths of the members portrayed and that kid running away. Also cool thing about their albums is that their lyrics actually had more going in them than >tfwngf of the other bands like Taking back saturday or fallout boy had for the most part.
I was one of the "MCR haters" in high school but now I actually enjoy them a fair amount. Pretty solid band. They just had an image that resulted in a lot of unnecessary hate.
