Why is he held in such high esteem?
Not just by fans and critics but also by other musicians.
>>60585629
because he is an awesome musician and all of his career is self made
hes a gay black man
>>60585629
because he is one of the few producers that actually made themselves famous instead of someone else. Also, he writes and performs most of the music himself.
the industry doesn't normally work like that.

Agree with this much
His gigs last for hours, he is experimental without being experimental for the sake of being experimental, and he looks like great fun to play alongside. Just look at this fucking guy, he is so bloody silky smooth. Sexy motherfucker, indeed.

when will they learn?
Because it was all him at a time when that wasn't a thing. And he was surprisingly pretty good too.
One might not like his style of music, but, damn, he sure knows his way around a fret board.
Because he is one of pop music's greatest auteurs.
Being able to make a bunch of amazing pop songs is something that will always be respected. People usually underrate just how hard it is to write a really great pop song.
he should fuck off, he hasnt written a good song in like 25 years
hate singers and bands who don't fuck off when they get shit

Then just don't listen to it. It's always really easy to ignore. You're only gonna be seeing old dude's albums at like Target, they don't get radioplay any more. Prince is especially easy to ignore seeing as his music isn't available online by traditional means.
