MBDTF is much, like, MUCH better than Kendrick's snoozefest

TPAB. The easiest answer is I love every song. MBDTF has some iffy picks.

I like the grandiosity of the production, it's really top notch. Nothing on MBDTF touches For Sale for me. I'm not that big a fan of Hell of a Life it's really meandering in my opinion. Don't really like Monster either.

MBDTF.

It feels more organic to me. I usually enjoy Kendrick, but a lot of times his stuff comes off feeling SO fucking forced to me.

Also I'm not a big fan of music that tries to force feed me a political message, regardless of if agree with it or not.

Well there's more to it than just the fame aspect, it does deal with race.

>>60573646
What are you trying to say?
>>
>>60573617
It's his about trials and temptations of fame and fortune as it relates to his culture and what the black community is experiencing. The album is very political in case you weren't paying attention.

Real is one of the strongest songs on the album and ties the themes of the album together. It shows his growth and how he has matured from earlier in the album.

MBDTF. Like, its not even close. Its immensely personal and immensely relatable like all good albums. Production is flawless, his lyrics's peaked on this album, features are flawless (launched Nicki's career and delivered Rick Ross' best verse to date, featured fucking Bon Iver and elton john on a mainstream hip hop album), discusses issues around race without coming off as extremely preachy, literally not one boring song, heart-wrenching post-breakup, ridden with tongue-in-cheek self-contradictions

all this at the worst time of his life, mom died from surgery he paid for and he got keked by his gf within a matter of months apart, and his previous studio album was deemed career-ending. No contest desu

i don't mind artists talking about race, but at the end of the day its music. i prefer my music to have some artistic subtlety and i want to see artists tackle their themes in a creative, abstract way. Lupe's new album for instance in primarily about race and its much more profound than TPAB.

Lyrics are generally not anything new, but the entire sound throughout the album is amazing. Waka bleeds insane amounts of charisma throughout the album, and the production was new for it's time (2010).

Yeah, that's called the youtube-complex, omnipresent in the time of digital advancing; just because people dislike a certain background about a project/persona completely deludes from the artistic value of their art. How the fuck is montana hard lmao you are a white suburb boy 1000% probably 19 fresh out of high school. All montana does is spit on mixtape beats with textd he sat weeks over just to get em as polished as possible. Thats not hard thats tryharding. Stop plz. If u said fredo is hard or reese aight but cmon youre literally so influenced by what utube comments etc say. Who goes harder than thug atm? Give me some names. Who has more buzz? Whos more polarizing? And what is substance to u? Diversity? Whos more diverse than thug? Names. Lyricism? Thugger IS lyrical, check his old songs before he started to understand how to make big time
Money but plz stahp memeing for a sec and drop these names. Who harder than thugger
>>
>>60578653
I wasn't talking about the overall quality, just how hard his music is.
>>60578658
I realized this a while ago, still not entirely sure if this guys serious or if it's b8 but either way I think it's great to have an argument like this.

You're still caught up on that, I wasn't saying his music is easy to make I was saying he doesn't go hard on the mic
>He also can't write a hook to save his life, or harmonize. Not bad, but not the GOAT you're making him out to be
I think you're talking about Montana here not sure, either way he is nowhere near GOAT but his music goes hard af.
>>60578670
>Who has more buzz?
Drake as I said before, kinda just glossed over that
>Whos more polarizing?
Lil Wayne or Kanye. Wayne gets a lot of hate but also a lot of love, same with Kanye. Not saying Thug doesn't but not on as large a scale of Wayne and Kanye
>And what is substance to u?
Not rapping about the same bullshit, having lyrics that aren't complete shit. I'm not talking amazing lyrics but just something decent would be fine
>Whos more diverse than thug?
Check out a group called Mayday, all of their albums have had hugely different sounds and they venture into different genres quite often
>Lyricism? Thugger IS lyrical
Show me an example then, but for every example of decent lyricism theres atleast 2 or 3 of complete and utter shit for thug

Lil Wayne polarizing in 2015? You just invalidated your whole, nicely greentexted post by just shitting out some bland statement. Kanye's last album was like 10 years ago. Youre the typical whiteboy that started listening to rap when of went big until they werent "cool" anymore so u had to hop on another dick. Im soo sick of people praising kanye just because they listened to his rihanna features im getting diarrhea so hard and how the fuck are u gonna compare drake to thugger? Wtfff im super confused right now. Drake is buzzin becAuse he has a like 12 headed hydra team behind him dictating every single business move. How are you even gonna compare these artists? Fuck do u even know what ur talking about? Kanye Weezy THESE NIGGAS NOT RELEVANT ANYMORE ITS NOT 2008 FFS

Pls mentio. Currensy or dom kennedy or even fashawn or even ab soul but YOU PULL THE WEEZY CARD. THEY ABOVE 30 THEY RETIRED.

This one was hard to understand
>Lil Wayne polarizing in 2015?
You've got a point, but there is still a huge amount of hate and a huge amount of love for him

Thanks man, I try

>Youre the typical whiteboy that started listening to rap when of went big until they werent "cool" anymore so u had to hop on another dick
Got no idea what you're saying here, try again.
> Im soo sick of people praising kanye
I think he's somewhat overrated as well, doesn't cahnge the fact that he is way more polarizing than Thug
>how the fuck are u gonna compare drake to thugger?
Didn't compare just said one had more buzz
>how the fuck are u gonna compare drake to thugger?
So you agree he has more buzz? I think you've lost whatever the hell you were trying to say at this point
>Fuck do u even know what ur talking about?
I know what I'm on about, have no idea what the hell you're on about though

Well why don't you print out some flyers saying how polarizing and totally hot artists kanye and weezy are and how total garbage thug is and how super good all these internet rappers are and how garbage all these street rappers are. If you just knew how wack the ppl are that would agree with your statements. But live by them and be happy. Im sure you will meet up with your run the jewels t shirt wearing elitists at the next lil wayne concert listening to a milli or vibing to yeezus lmao. You think youre so superior with your mbdtf fetish but in a few years you will realize (and with u all these utter robots on here defendig that whitewashing garbage) how wrong u were. At the same time
Im bumping thugger at parties with the hottest bitches that can only laugh at kardashian fucking, tyga best producing egocentric losers that cant even get into fashion cuz they uncreative since their second album. Kanye dickriders the absolute worst. My fucking god just let us have thugger he a saviour

Noice knowledge of hip hop there pham. He totally didn't start out in Co-Flow selling thousands on the underground in NY in the 90s, nah he's an internet rapper.

I'm sure you can see that it isn't a selfie, also c'mon man, my chins are way more impressive than his

Might as well be. Just confused as that quote is pretty much exactly the opposite of what someone owning a fedora would say. Aren't they more into Slick Rick and Kanye
>>
>>60579188
I haven't compared Drake to Young Thug once until now, though we all know who's better out of the two. (It isn't Young Thug)

As of right now I would say MBDTF. But when that album first dropped I liked it a lot but not near as much as I like and respect it now. Its historic I didn't see that at first because we didnt have time to. TPAB will be historic, it already is. I just wonder in 5 years how I will feel about it.

>Needlessly references Goethe
Fuck off desu. Having good lyrics matter in rap. It's not the only thing, but it's an important aspect. And with Thugger it's not that his lyrics have no substance, but its the fucking mumbling that takes away from his flow. Because of that AND lack of lyrical content PLUS the Wayne derivation makes Thugger less than novelty
