Did that guy seriously shit on new porter? their quality was a lot more consistent on moctezuma and juan son is really great solo, if anything its for the better that they're like this and then maybe get back together later down the road.

I mean a lot of songs take from post punk or new wave in a way but they make it their own. Palapa is a god tier song. The production has definitely gone up which is why their album was so goddamn expensive.

it's ok, i suppose. it's that new "supergroup", right?

i actually like early Miranda (Sin Restricciones has it's fair share of pop goodness) and i like a few of Julieta's songs, so i guess something nice can come out of this - the collab makes sense.

They were pretty much short on making a consistent album (since its a compilation), but they had some clear ideas, its a shame they broke up before they could make something significant, it's also not a really good album, you can even hear the vocalist forcing his accent in some songs.

How do we change modern latinoamerican music, bros?
Most modern bands just copy the sound of bands from anglosaxon countries and such and that kinda sucks.

Like, free jazz-influenced psych-mariachi when?
Or avant-garde noise banda norteña?
We need to step up.

There's no need for ranking latam countries, you're risking to get /int/ tier replies.
That said i'd put argentina in the same level as brazil, i'm well aware of the diversity and output the brazilian music has, but some of the stuff i've encountered seems overrated in some examples imo.
As well of chilean music and mexican music being on par in a tier 2 category.
>>
>>60570538
>Most modern bands just copy the sound of bands from anglosaxon countries and such and that kinda sucks.

It's always been mostly like that, and there's nothing necesarilly bad with that. Let's embrace it and do the best we can with that.

>Most modern bands just copy the sound of bands from anglosaxon countries and such and that kinda sucks.
And there's yet another current that tries to include traditional music influences in modern attempts at music, which work even less than droning anglos imo.
There's no need to include regional folk music like those meme examples in todays music.
Like it happens a lot when bands use pre-hispanic influences in modern music, that's pretty shitty unless that's the concept on the album and it is properly delivered, which it has yet to happen.
For example those bands using pre-columbian names and aesthetic (like modern porter) for the sake of it that fail terribly and then they have to make a very explicit video to compensate their "influences".

About Chile I if you're interested in checking out some pretty decent music I recommend Los Tres and Los Prisioneros.
I agree on 90's argentinian rock, it's the best. I really like Virus, and had heard about Illya & los Valderramas but never listened until today, definitely gonna listen to some more.
I also really like Sui Generis, totally recommend it (they were really popular on the 70's, but they still sound very good today I think).

Indio and Skay had their adventurous venue as their songwriting partnership was breaking apart. The kind of schizofrenic, heavy sampled, pastiched alt rock perfectly fitting the end-of-millenia landscape. The argentinian OK Computer, I'd even say.

i never bothered with their later stuff, actually. i was familiar with their albums that are considered classic (oktubre, gulp, un baión... in some cases i knew all the songs without having heard the actual albums because of radio exposure and other stuff, which proves how insanely relevant they still are) so i didn't bother with the final ones. but you definitely make it sound interesting, so i guess i could give them a shot.

How to post music in /lat/: a tutorial.

1) look up you're favorite latin music on youtube (make sure it's not some other site with better quality audio)
2) copy and paste the link to the video on your post
3) OPTIONAL: if you're feeling particularly helpful and constructive, add the name of the artist and/or song
4) OPTIONAL: now if you REALLY want your post to stand out, you can throw in a little comment or opinion about the music and/or its country of origin. protip: make sure it's short, and preferably written in bad english or spanish.

EXAMPLE:

they are considered the best current indie rock act in argentina by some, and i really don't agree with that. Un Millón de Euros is a great EP and they certainly have other great songs, but i find the sound a bit generic and kinda tiresome after a while.

Yes, the Konex thing, i might go, still not convinced.
I mean, im browsing 4chan at 00:30, it's not like i love going out.
It's fun, but im kind of depressed right now.
You know, when you don't want to do anything, not even go out to see a great band.

Hey, I've been to shitshows for my friends and sometimes I've had a good time, like that time I went to an Arcangel concert.

However I have missed some decent bands coming through, like Title Fight recently. I didn't go cause I hadno one to go with and I didn't want to go to the ugly part f town alone lol

How to post in /lat/: a tutorial

>option 1
simply type "wena nido", it means "good luck" in chilean
>option 2
rank the countries you deem relevant in latin america from best to worst in football
>option 3
complain about your shitty local scene/ how music was better before you were born
>option 4
casual convo with your fellow negros, feel free to use 4chan like it was omegle
>option 5
actually post music: see >>60574026

>>60574232
I don't like them but I would totally fuck Liliana
>>
>>60574232
Gr8 live, Estalla is a pretty god album. Song you posted is shit and all Will Smith does is act like Pitbull. Latest album is just ok, the Somos Dos single was pretty cool though, I dig it.

Seriously tho, they're very good live, great fun especially if you have a partner.

>>60574108
i saw interpol live when they did a free movistar-sponsored show. first time i got a cellphone robbed lmao

never went to a show with a phone again since then

>>60574145
El Taxi played during most of the parties i went to lately, and i have no problems with that. it grew on me a lot.

>but i wouldn't listen to that kind of music except when im going out
this. i can see why people listen to that in the context of a social event (as much as i like rock, it would be pretty lame to have that as background music) but listening to it at home just sounds... boring.

>>60574202
yeah, i don't know if i'm gonna go either. i want to, but i dunno...
i can handle going alone sometimes, but in some occassions it can get pretty lonely. i really wanted to see Jeff Mills at GEBA last friday and totally missed it because i had no one to go with. i still can't decide if i did the right thing.
>but im kind of depressed right now
in my case summer kills me, and it's just round the corner. too much free time, i can't handle it. i feel like i'm wasting my life.

>>60574232
is bomba estereo the ones that did Fuego? that's a proper banger for sure.

The ciberpunk-lite themed alt rock became more or less a constant on Solari's solo work. But coming from someone who loves his lyricism to the core, he occasionally makes me cringe a little. Nevertheless, he can also be stupidly endearing and heartfelt.

>never got into his solo shit

That's the best part! There's so much to grab from, you have the sophisticated art new wave of Clics Modernos and Parte de religión, Charly: the hit machine on Piano Bar, the erratic demented electro pop of the Say No More era, his piano based barroquish side on Yendo de la cama al living, his synth pop collaborations with Aznar. Here have a listen.

>>60574343
Exactly this.
I hate it when people know i listen to progressive rock for example, and think that i listen to "boring music" because of one song.

>how do you dance this anon?

I mean, i have fun with cumbia, is musica pa joder and nothing else, but i see so much people that can't listen to anything else.

i do, and i can confirm they are awful. it's all a matter of whether you can accept (ironic) shitposting or not. if you feel you can join, you may get a bit of fun out of it.

expect edited images of simpsons characters smoking weed, abuse of slang and meme-catchphrases ("saludos", "chicano", "me cojo a tu vieja", "una vela"), and stuff like that.
