What's this?
Also I fully admit the only reason I'm listening to these albums (>>60561669 & >>60561677) is Scaruffi, and I want to make it clear I realize how stupid it is of me to be this dependant on his opinion.

>>60561669
They had a unique perspective of harsh sax noise and that recording is acclaimed for capturing it but they must be seen live
>>
>>60561954
Explainn this? I legitimately can't comprehend what makes this record more than random noise instrumentation without method.

And what about them live is better? Do they have any live albums, and if so do you have any recs?

I just think it's kind of dull and uninteresting, but not bad.

I've honestly tried several times. Can't see what's so special about it.

Hmm I could see you thinking that, I look at it as haunting,
fear inducing, just chilling and lonely. Think about what the singer was going through in
his life when he wrote this music, struggling with depression,
a bad marriage, loneliness and had to withstand keeping the band together while he had epilepsy.

Huh sounds pretty rough. I went in completely blind so I didn't know about the meaning behind stuff. I guess I'll give it another listen and read the lyrics along then.
>>
This is going to sound really stupid, but I try to appreciate different kinds of albums as they are meant to be appropriately assesed, from like a "pitchfork" perspective (in terms of the music itself to varying extents, but also of the music's real life context and significance) and from like a "Scaruffi" perspective (in terms of purely the music and how innovative and original it is). A lot of hip hop is significant only due to what it represents in relation to cultural/society, but is nothing special in terms of actual artistry or creative exploration.
This all said, album like >>60562587 and >>60563586 (which are both fantastic albums) (and maybe >>60562085 though I haven't listened to this and may be completely wrong?) tend to fall more toward the end of the "pitchfork" end of this train of thought, in that they represent a very strong and a more accessible/more widely appealing unification and, to varying extents, a generalization of the different kinds of styles that were pioneered by the strongest artistry ("Scuruffi-core) which set forth each respective albums' creative movement.
I really hope this makes sense and I don't sound like an absolute faggot.

you'll like Deceit much better, almost certainlyo
Hopefully that can get you into This Heat in general, they are a great band

Also basically all Pere Ubu after Dub Housing and before their first disbandment.
>>
>>60564086
Nah, bit long winded but I feel ya.
I usually guage an album based on how I interpret it personally, not on context.
That being said, >>60562587 has always seemed boring to me as well besides the opener.
>>
>>60566709
That's what I've begun to gravitate towards doing, recently. If the culture in question of the respective music's cultural context was actually interesting then maybe it would be different, but I don't know.
And yeah I basically agree with that with Unknown Pleasures. I can respect it and the interpretation that it is greater for what it represents, but honestly when you look at it straight I agree that a lot of it is boring. The first track, She Lost Control, and Shadowplay all stand out for me though.
And sorry, not too good at summarizing.
>>
>>60565216

Overrated tbhdesu, blue train and giant steps are better
>>
I can respect it but it just isn't interesting to me. And basically Zappa's music in general.
