It's funny cause even in the actual sleeve of Songs about Fucking it said 'Atomizer' was better
based Albini strikes again

Good thread subject, but incorrect OP. Untilted is somewhere toward the middle-lower third of their full album catalogue.
Also The Jimi Hendrix Experience-Are You Experienced, and Big Black-Songs About Fucking

Fuck you youre wrong

I actually posted "Songs about Fucking" below before I read this post. I am pleasantly surprised by this; I don't remember it from my CD sleeve but knowing Albini the real content didn't make it onto CD.
Also IIRC one track from Atomizer is missing from the Rich Man's eight-track tape. I haven't listened to Albini stuff since college, fuck, this makes me want to re-visit now.

post your full autechre ranking so i can laugh at you
>>60527562
that was the Headache EP (IMO, their actual second-best release)
>>60529498
No he's not

Nah, it's one of their best. The only weak track on Untilted is Fermium - the rest are super strong, especially the first 4 tracks + Sublimit.
>>60529664
Fermium is rhythmically boring and sounds like a pop track (it's really beneath them, they've done dozens of tracks with more interesting rhythmic stuff going on), and The Trees is just sorta-boring. The closer closes in typical Autechre fashion (long fade to silence), but is one of their least memorable versions of this trope. Augmatic Disport gets points for being one of the most sheer-autistic things they've done (alongside Gantz Graf), but that doesn't make it not-a-chore to listen to- 6IE.CR accomplishes in a much more gratifying fashion the same kind of thing that Augmatic tries to do - HARD, followed eventually by soft (and a bit of melody for the comedown). LCC is a very strong opener though, and I don't have any objections to it. I can't even remember the second track, it's been a while. If it were truly good I would remember it.
Draft 7.30 is a much better album despite being from the same "era", and that's not even their best. This is neither here nor there, but I was listening to a liberal public-radio program earlier today where they used a snippet from a Draft 7.30 track to indicate mental breakdown (NPR just loves Warp records, in general).

>not posting the limited-edition version
I once saw this "Mainstream" album cover in an old record shop though. And that's just it about Big Black though, isn't it - a bunch of EPs, only the two albums last I checked, and the CDs as afterthoughts.

Very interested to hear more about the radio snippet. What program was it? Sounds like a Radiolab type of thing.
Once I heard them play a few seconds from an EP7 track as a kind of "card" between segments on one of the news programs. I was pretty excited about it.

What do you think is their best? Government Plates and Niggas on the Moon are tied for me.
>>60528000
Vespertine, MedĂșlla and Post are all better than Homogenic
>>60528129
That's a tough one desu.
>>60529498
Stay mad. In Utero is #1.
>>60529857
It's the best, actually.

I agree with this.
