what do you mean, RnB probably has the most skilled singers outside of opera. if you want rnb that is not as pop-ish, a lot of 70s rnb like parliment, the ohio players, isaac hayes and the isley brothers have long developed songs with solo sections etc.
basically 60s rnb is close to rock n roll, 70s is as i mentioned above, 80s is more succinct and pop ish, 808 and synth driven, 90s is often more electronically experimental, sometimes throwback, 2000s and beyond is moreso hip hop influenced.
