This was cool, danceable industrial music, I can dig it
>>60517664
I kind of dig the atmosphere you're going for here, but these tracks are nowhere near fleshed out enough in my opinion. The harmonies are really cool, but the whole thing seems not quite "thick" enough I guess

>>60516760
okay, sorry but I don't like it. seems really generic and cheesy
>>60516760
Lacks the flamboyance and in-your-faceness that makes truly great dubstep. Drums don't cut through the mix enough, synths could be more massive. Nice vocal sample, some occasionally good chopping as well.
>>60516781
You guys sound you're a really good live band, but this doesn't swagger in the way it should. I like the way the drums sound, but the guitars leave a lot to be desired. Sounds like you're playing through a really tiny amp, mostly. Songwriting is decent if a bit predictable, vocalist is alright but the melodies get a little melodramatic at times. FASTER. LOUDER.
>>60516841
Drums sound very sampled, and not in a good way. The louder parts are much better than the quiet parts. Mad props for doing something pretty left-field, though.
>>60516872
Very cool. Songs could use a bit more variety, but everything is well-played and -recorded. Very consistent aesthetic throughout. Would probably benefit from some (non-intrusive) vox or like a guitar solo every now and then. The design of your website and album covers looks so bad that it's off-putting.
>>60517051
Pleasant stuff, great voice, but it kinda sounds like you use reverb as a crutch to prop up mediocre playing. I'd record your acoustic guitar with less string noise, the attack is very harsh and plucky most of the time and it's at odds with the placid melancholy of the songs themselves. Are the strings all live? I see you play cello, but at some parts it sounds much to high to be cello. The more abstract sections are a nice touch, but could be a bit tighter. Your artist description is too "PR-y"
>>60517075
"Experimental," sure. Would be cool if it weren't all midi.

>>60518523
Eh, I don't really mean it as in insult, just my opinion, etc. etc. I encourage everyone to first and foremost make music that they can enjoy, but as a listener I also have preferences and suggestions for improvement for a lot of stuff. Couldn't really think of anything to say for yours, if you want a more real critique I can do one.
>>60517191
Not sure what makes this "post-electronic," or what that even is. Nice enough, though I'd probably like it more if were less repetitive/less reliant on just adding and removing layers to create interest. Some harmonic tension here and there would be nice, or a rhythmic curveball thrown in somewhere. Sounds like the main drum pattern is just an 8-bar loop or something, having occasional fills would make it sound a lot better.
>>60517639
Record-a-bunch-of-incoherent-shit-then-apply-tons-of-fx-in-garageband-core. Low effort and bad sounding, no atmosphere to speak of.
>>60517658
Bright, loud, and in your face. Kinda like it. Could be mixed better, kick drums lack thump and overall the whole thing leans pretty hard towards high frequencies, sounds thin as a result.
>>60517664
A little meandering and lacking in technical proficiency to rightly be called prog. Some really poor song-writing choices; a beautiful vamp will be juxtaposed with this awkward lumpy-sounding section. Work on your transitions. You ride the delay pretty hard, too.
>>60517764
LOUDER. MORE SPACE. MORE ABSTRACT. But seriously, it sounds good but the -gazey parts are a bit flaccid.
>>60517876
Nice, DL'd. Sounds thick and woolly, densely-layered production. Drums sound oddly cheap, especially compared to the guitars and vocals. Some poor panning choices on the non-studio tracks as well.
>>60518000
Too meandering at times, though it usually peaks with something pretty cool. Great use of weird noises, glitching, etc. All the songs kind of sound the same, and build in the same way.

I think I've finally formed an opinion on this guy's music, and it's that I enjoy it quite a bit, but it's incredibly niche, moreso than the majority of things I enjoy. Whether that's a good or bad thing, I mean, I'd say it's good, idk

>anyway here's me
>folk punk, acoustic screamo
>>60518081
Seems kinda disingenuous to make this Americana album and dedicate it to vagrants and stuff and be from the UK. The build-up on the first song takes too long, and when it finally hits the climax it's really disappointing, didn't listen to the other tracks at length but I suspect they'll probably be similar. Find a drummer.
>>60518084
Unlike most bandcamp ambient, actually succeeds in establishing a vibe instead of just being reverby aural wallpaper. Some of the sounds used are kind of abrasive for "meditation music" though. No offense, but your tapes look really cheap and low-quality. Hand-cut printer paper j-cards, highlighter and magic marker for the stickers. At least spring for (or get whoever runs the label to spring for) some cardstock for the j-cards. You can use the big paper cutters in a FedEx for free.
>>60518212
Pleasant, I guess. Cheesy synth sounds, too busy and with too many chord changes to be properly minimalist. Also:
>calling your own music bad
>>60518898
Love the instrumentals, douchey "arena lounge" type vocalist ruins it. Probably wouldn't care so much if he were lower in the mix. Try actually harmonizing during the chorus instead of just double-tracking it.
>>60518947
Second track kinda sounds like field recordings of a basketball court chopped up and resequenced to make a song, though I suspect the actual production process isn't as interesting. Not a big fan of the reverb you use, it's excessively metallic, sounds very artificial. Ponderous, doesn't do much for me.
>>60519070
Cool tunes, some terrible stereo imaging. The quality of the playing is really all over the place as well, most elements are good (I'm especially a fan of the drummer), but there are some parts that kind of sound like you're just dicking around (the bass playing is usually pretty bad, and certain guitar parts don't mesh very well). If you're going to have amp buzz at least try to use it in an artful way. Out of curiousity, what did you use to record it?
https://frontroyalmd.bandcamp.com/
Slightly progressive pop punk band, just recently released our second EP and would appreciate some feedback
>>60519440
check out my album art guys
>>60519462
Yeah I see where you are coming from. This EP was almost 100% improvised so it is more or less dicking around. It was recorded in an abandoned house's basement, all in one sitting, with really dirty power, and the amp buzz was all over the place.
It was mostly an experiment to see what could come of isolating ourselves with minimal equipment and making something.
>>60519149
Nice enough, I guess. Could use some production if you catch my drift. Like literally any multi-tracking at all would help. Also:
>charging $10 for a digital copy of a home-recorded folk album
Like bro what are you doing.
>>60519161
Neat concept, with good results. Sounds a little "preset-y" but I can't really blame you given that it's all improvised.
>>60519340
Could be great with better presentation, but as it is it just comes across as kinda generic. No low-end at all, and that prevents the songs from having any impact.
>>60519379
Decent. Your more poppy songs are infinitely better than your ambient stuff.
>>60519218

>>60518802

funny you make the sexuality comment, because i have been listening to a lot of QOTSA lately and i want to add some groove in our stuff. I felt we may have taken ourselves a little too seriously on that album. So, with our newer stuff we've been more loose.
