I know it isn't his best, but it made me fall in love with him and it still probably covers my favorite styles and themes. Station to Station a close second. Also has God-tier cut songs, could have easily been one of his best albums without contest. Alternative Candidate is one of my favorite songs ever and one of the most directly personal songs he ever wrote.
All said, the album I listen to most these days is the live recording from the Station to Station tour at Nassau. Absolute top of his live performance.

Star totally is. It's literally the only Bowie song I skip, from that era alone. Something about the kind of echoed piano and lack of substance really grinds on me, especially with how perfect the rest of the album is. I don't think it's bad, but it's definitely not up on top.
