I've been getting into synth-pop/industrial. I've been mostly listening to pic related, Violator, and New Order. Are there better synth pop albums out there? What are some of your favorite synth pop groups/albums?
This one is pretty good, it gets hate though because the band used to make doom metal
>>60482888
Listening to it now. Definitely getting that industrial/late Depeche Mode vibe from it. Not bad so far
>>60482817
Do yourself a favour and check the whole discography of Ladytron.

Just listened to seventeen. Kinda reminds me of Kraftwerk, which I like. Listened to a couple other songs and they're not bad
Gary Numans first and last solo albums
Japan - Quiet Life, Tin Drum
YMO - Yellow Magic Orchestra, Solid State Survivor
Are you me? No seriously, I've also been listening to a bunch of synthpop lately (pretty much the same stuff you listed plus Kraftwerk)
>>60483733
Seconding Japan, haven't heard YMO so thanks for that
>>60483733
>no mention of of Japan - Gentlemen Take Polaroids
Somewhat related, you should check out Ryuichi Sakamoto's 80s output, especially Left Handed Dream. It's GOAT Japanese synthpop.
>>60483733
>>60483810
Thanks for the recs. I've listened to Japan's earlier stuff, but haven't really looked into them. I'll definitely do that
>>60483810
>Ryuichi Sakamoto
Just listened to this for the first time this week. Great music and the cover photo is awesome to me even though it's basically just him in a bath
>>60483441
Their style is quite different from album to album. For more industrial tinged songs check these ones:

Also check these guys out. GOAT Germany synthpop inspired by Kraftwerk. They only made one album though (two if you count an EP of longer mixes). The 9 minute mix of P Machinery is just so long and droning, I love it.
>>60483974
This seems great so I just got 'A Secret Wish' and am listening to it now
Top notch recommendation, anon. Cheers
What about Goldfrapp? Their albums Black Cherry & Supernature are some of the best synthpop albums of the 00s.
>>60482817
listen to front 242
>>60484178
No problem man, glad you enjoy them.
Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark is another good synthpop group.

Albums worth checking out are
>Organisation
>Architecture & Morality
>Dazzle Ships
>>60484259
Also to VNV Nation, Covenant, Apoptygma Berzerk, mind.in.a.box, Assemblage 23, The Birthday Massacre, Rotersand, Ashbury Heights. All great synthpop bands with some industrial influences.
>>60484313
future not synth except for birthday massacre
Speaking of synthpop, check also Yazoo, Eurythmics, Tubeway Army, The Human League, Man Without Country, La Roux, Cut Copy, Grimes, Crystal Castles, Pet Shop Boys, Ultravox, Mesh, John Foxx, The Knife, Marsheaux, M83, Chvrches, Purity Ring, Tears For Fears, Art of Noise, Section 25, Wolfsheim. All, good stuff.
>>60482817
Not industrial, but essential synthpop nonetheless
>>60484359
>John Foxx
Absolutely essential is Metamatic, a perfect synthpop industrial album.
>Art Of Noise
Their debut EP and first album are also great industrial pieces if you enjoy sampling too.
>>60484350
Futurepop is an evolution of synthpop anyway. There are pop melodies and a lot of synths. If you like pure synthpop you'll probably like futurepop as well.

>>60484285
Perfect! I know what I'm going to be doing with my weekend. Thanks again, man
>>60484313
Thanks to you, too!
>>60484359
I know a bunch of these but there's still quite a few that I haven't heard
This is awesome, I'm going to be listening to a bunch of synthpop this weekend for sure
Some Cabaret Voltaire albums could be tagged as industrial synthpop.
>>60484404
And don't forget to check Ladytron's discography. I promise you, you'll be surprised.
Killing Joke have some outstanding metal - synthpop hybrids like European Super State: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naUAuptzUb4

Oh yeah I forgot to respond to that post; I put them on my backlog along with all the other stuff from this thread, no worries. My backlog isn't very large so I'll be able to listen to everything over the weekend. I'm pretty excited
>>60484424
Love those guys, but probably too 'out there' or something for somebody who's just getting into synthpop. Plus, yeah, their music bears far closer resemblance to industrial than synthpop. It's kind of aggressive dance music coming from a post-punk and industrial background
Imma name some
Trust - Joyland (2014)
>>60484478
Cool. By the way I also recommended to you this stuff:

Nice man, I really appreciate it. I marked down all the bands I haven't heard of into a list that I'm gonna go through this weekend. I'm particularly interested in checking out Cabaret Voltaire; I was going to check them out a while back when they came up as a recommendation from my listening to Throbbing Gristle, but I never got around to it and totally forgot about them. So that will be interesting
>>60484563
Damn, didn't even know about this. Nice, thanks a bunch man.
Honestly this is one of the best threads I've seen on these boards.

>>60485337
Already posted itt, but a good recommendation nonetheless.
>>60485337
Justice - Audio, Video, Disco (2011)
>>60485399
OK, enough. I've mostly avoided posting many other similar things but under labels minimal wave, italo-disco, synthwave, neo-80s.
Some labels with that smexy synth sound:
Valerie Records
Italians Do It Better
Rosso Corsa Records
Minimal Wave Records
Also, pic related - Black Devil Disco Club is a great project for a dark disco sound.
>>60485517
And maybe bubblegumbass also falls under synthpop label.
Pic related PC Music, Vol 1
>>60485588
And I forgot this one. Easter is awesome.
