You can't just pop that super early, sometimes you have to woo them a bit and prove to them that you'd be a good candidate for a relationship. Don't be like "I like you" first, ask the next one if she wants to hang out sometime and then get to know her better in a friendly setting. That'll give you a chance to show her you're date-able.
Just walking home from classes alone isn't enough to work on to reciprocate something like romantic affection.
