Idk man I just didn't get that at all. Pretty much the entire reason I liked it was because it seemed really sincere and not at all pretentious. Pretty much the opposite of that Twist and Shout video. You'd expect someone covering that to sing like the way you're describing but i literally perceived it to be the exact opposite. She sings it pretty straight without any unnecessary inflection and whatnot IMO. Whatever.

How are they pretentious at all though? They're clearly having a good time and actually getting into the music. They're not putting on any kind of visual performance and don't come off as taking the music they're playing overly serious.
