wilderness is pleasant background music
Divers is AOTY
>>60404243

My two favorite albums from this year. Im a Newsom fanboy tho, so imma have to say Divers.
>>60404284
>>60404333
I regret making this now
>>60404243

lol. do you prefer it even with that awful singing?
i really don't understand why so many people like that album.
>>60404536
>awful singing
that's like your opinion man. I feel sorry you can't appreciate it. maybe one day.
Anecdotes is the best song by a good measure off either, but Have You in My Wilderness is a stronger album
>>60404536
apart from the singing that seem to be hit or miss she is miles better than any other pop artist of the last 10 years
>>60404243
YS> Ekstasis > LCS > Divers > Hoom > Tragedy > HYIMW > MIM
>>60404243
Have you in my wilderness by far
Have You in My Wilderness I liked a lot more musically and vocally. If only Julia had Joanna's skill with lyrics.
>>60406111
Best of them all is hoom
>>60404333
damn this guy is so ugly
HYIMW
>>60404536
I don't understand the horrible singing comment. She hits every note she goes for. Listen to her discography, her voice aims for different styles each album and she's successful in all of her vocal efforts... You don't like her voice and that's fine but it's not bad singing. That's an entirely different thing.
>>60404243
Ys>LCS>HOOM>Tragedy>MEM>Divers>Ekstasis>HYIMW
best two musicians of the millenium
>>60407959
Switch Divers and HOOM and I agree
>>60407959
>>60408069
HYIMW is way better than MEM and Ekstasis. Hell, it's better than Divers too
>>60408108
You should listen to those last three albums again
All I know is that either of those tight pussies would have me floating.
>>60408108
I felt it was a really consistent album but incredibly flat and boring. I preferred Loud City Songs.
>>60404243
divers is better but they're both amazing
>>60406111
What does YS stand for?
>>60408133
I've listened to the former albums over a dozen times, and Divers honestly just want that good.
>>60408185
I prefer LCS as well but HYIMW is still an excellent album. I don't understand how anyone besides a ADD pleb couldn't get something out of songs like Vasquez, Lucette, or Everytime Boots.
>>60408230
that's a complex question
The answer is about five questions in:

>>60404243
yep thats a good one. sorry I can't participate. most I could say is this morning I was super pissed off and I put on divers which I only heard once last week and was very impressed but now turned it off in literally five seconds. no offence but that is what happened today. loved both albums the little that I've heard them.
>>60408240
I think divers and hiymw are their weakest albums thus far, which is actually very disconcerting, because they could be indicative of a decline in quality for the both of them. I really would not like that to happen; Joanna becoming less inspired, and Julia becoming more MOR. I guess we'll have to wait to see where their careers go from here. That being said, I think Joanna's still stellar songwriting trumps a simplified Julia
I want to eat them both out and slap their fat asses.
>>60408403
I disagree.
>>60408431
alright
>Joanna Newsom; has played the harp since she was little, talented and unique vocal stylings, composes symphonic-like tracks, has only like 3 subpar tracks in her whole disco
>Julia Holter: shitty jingle pop. boring. uninspired, lacking form
shig?
>>60408645
Absurdly weak bait
>>60404243
>Holter not produced by Aaron Ellis
>Newsom produced by Aaron Ellis
Oh, it shows, Julia... it shows...
Divers is nowhere near Joanna's usual standards
tragedy is fucking underrated
Divers easily. Let down by Julia whereas Joanna delivered perfection again
>>60404333
>tfw ugly but not as ugly as this guy
julia > grimes > joanna >>>>> annie > the rest
Obviously Divers, but Julia is cool too.
>>60409443
Joanna > Julia >>> Annie >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Grimes
who /will one day name their power-folk project "You and Me, Bass"/ here?
>>60404243
I think Divers is probably the better album, but I prefer Julia's work overall.
