>tfw just discovered there is a new Deerhunter album
>tfw haven't saw /mu/ talking about it
Like, it's Deerhunter, so i'm sure it got alot of discussion, but i somehow missed it...
I plan to listen to it very soon. i love love love Deerhunter
spoiler: it's bad
and i say this as a deerhunter fan
>>60404118
im a deerhunter fan, and i think its great, but its not as good as halycon digest and the more you liten to it, the more you wish you were listeing to that
People hate deerhunter here idk why
>>60404118
I will listen to it by myself and then decide ~
Deerhunter albums i loved: Cryptograms, Microcastle / Weird Era Continued, Halcyon Digest
Deerhunter albums i'm okay with: Monomania
Deerhunter albums i never heard: Turn It Up, Fading Frontier
>>60404183
(Oh, and by "okay with" i mean that Monomania was nothing special but not bad)
>>60404183
I actually really liked monomaia
>>60404213
I will relisten to it, maybe it will grow in me ~
I haven't heard it in ages to be honest
>>60404137
they are the biggest and most successful neo psych band of the 2010s, so idk why, i love em
>>60404183
imo
cryptograms > microcastle/weird era > monomania = turn it up faggot > halcyon digest > fading frontier
if you liked monomania you should check out tiuf, it has a similar garage rock feel, just much less refined
>>60404253
kinda weird halcyon digest is so low considering its their best release...
>>60404266
yes it's weird how people have different tastes
>>60404266
I think Microcastle / Weird Era Continued (as a double album) is their best release personally. but yes Halcyon Digest is absolutely phenomenal too
>>60404281
different tastes =/= good taste
Didn't really do anything for me, sadly. However the recent Atlas Sound stuff Bradford's been playing sounds really nice and has me excited.
>>60404281
Really strange!
Is it possible to like Deerhunter if you aren't gay?
Please be desu with me. I liked Of Montreal until I realized it was for gays and had to let it go.
Please be desu with me. My sexuality is very important.

viper urself
turn it up faggot - 5/10
cryptograms - 7/10
microcastle - 7/10
weird era - 6/10
halcyon digest - 9/10
monomania - 8/10
fading frontier - 6/10
snakeskin sounded like a more developed version of the monomania style and i was really hoping for fading frontier to follow through with that
>>60404573
bradford cox is asexual so its 100% not gay
Fading Frontier is excellent
/mu/ doesn't like it
/mu/ sucks
"At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has received an average score of 81, based on 27 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim.""
>>60404610
FF is great but Metacritic is shit, they overinflate ratings so that 4 8/10s somehow become an 84 and shit like that.
AOTY.com actually averages all the critic scores
i'd go:
turn it up faggot - 6/10
cryptograms/fluorescent grey - 9/10
microcastle - 9/10
weird era - 6/10
halcyon digest - 9/10
monomania - 7/10
fading frontier - 8/10
>>60404641
it's got a 82 there based on 27 reviews
>>60404646
Weird Era's better than a 6 imo but otherwise that's pretty spot on
>>60404676
yea i had it as a 7 at first, then dropped it so i didn't just look like a Deerhunter superfan (i am)
it's been a while since i heard that one though
i uh... i like helicopter desire lines and i really liked agoraphobia but i haven't been able to get into deerhunter for real.
what do?
>>60404713
smoke a doobie, go on a walk or bike ride with some headphones, and keep listening til it clicks
then get ready to be obsessed with your new favorite band
>>60404713
have you listened to fading frontier? you seem to like their poppier songs and FF is their most poppy release yet
Would you "fuck" Bradford?
>>60404118
it's not bad but it's not great. it's mediocre in my opinion. the only song i want to go back and listen to is Breaker.
even monomania had more memorable.
>>60404761
>doobies
way to waste your weed, man.
>>60404771
i should definitely check out FF but i'm not sure how it will help me appreciate their more acclaimed albums.
turn it up faggot - 8/10
cryptograms/fluorescent grey - 6/10
microcastle - 9/10
weird era - 10/10
halcyon digest - 10/10
monomania - 9/10
fading frontier - 7/10
It's actually pretty solid. I wasn't expecting to like it much based on Snakeskin but the first half is like electro-pop Deerhunter and it's pretty cool. I like Ad Astra off of the second half but that's about it.
