>>
That's a fucking retarded question

The question is really "is music made with samples music?"

The answer of course is yes

Technically yes.

If you can flip a sample and remake it into something distinctive, that actually takes skill and is impressive. If you're a vaporwave "producer" who slows down Cyndi Lauper or something and calls it windows420kramersenpaibox you deserve to die a painful death.

- Sampling requires a bit more work than pressing a button. Tasteful sampling usually involves lots of mixing and editing to make it flow with the rest of the music
- Musicians who get sampled from not only approve of the sample but receive royalties like 99% of the time, the other 1% is like vaporwave or they get fucking sued for it

why since 2001? sampling was not invented in 2001, nor was electronic music.
why 2001?
>>
>>60370935
I get you're trying to troll or something, but see buddy, no one in the real world like you, do you really want people here to aknowledge your existence and hate you as well?
>>
>>60370879
the problem is people don't even know what sampling really is or what samplers are. The word 'sampling' has come to mean taking a sample of another piece of music to add to your own; but that has nothing to do with the original purpose of samplers and sampling. As a result, you get a LOT of idiots on the internet who don't know what they're talking about, championing the ripping off and stealing of music as an art known as 'sampling'. It's a fucking joke.
>>
>>60372823
Blame Plunderphonics for that, and, let's be honest, Endtroducing's a pretty good album.
>>
>>60372823
You also get a lot of idiots that use sampling to steal music.
>>
>>60372786
I support him. He's the hero /mu/ needs
>>
>>60372847
Endtroducing is hip hop

Plunderphonics is just another retarded meaningless term made by rockists

Back in my day people played the major pentatonic scale and sang about girls.

I wouldn't have agreed with this until I listened to pic related. This album presents a good argument for "sampling = stealing"
>>
The moment you start debating authenticity in music is the moment your argument loses value.
