I challenge you to rate Björk's albums in descending order.
volta > don't matter
All the ones I've heard are good. Medulla was weird at times but still decent tracks.
This is so pointless. They're all good. Volta and, arguably, Biophilia/Medulla are black sheep, but comparing the rest is inane.
>>60335498
the only reason people don't like volta is because it was produced by a black guy
What does /mu/ think of Bjork's butterfly outfit.
I think it's pretty balla af
Vespertine - 8/10
Homogenic - 7/10
Post - 6/10
Medulla - 6/10
Debut - 6/10
Biophilia - 5/10
Vulnicura - 5/10
Volta - 5/10
I liked her in FFXII
>>60335525
they only did two songs on the album
>>60335400
Shit, that's a speed painting? I'm impressed.
My favourites are Post, Homogenic and Vespertine. Vulnicura comes fourth. All those are solid and have a distinctive sound.
Medúlla is interesting but I thought I'd like it more than I do. I can understand people who find it great but I'm not feeling it entirely.
Debut is very likable but quite a bit uneven.
I remember finding Drawing Restraint 9 interesting but I can't remember what each track sounded like now.
Biophilia leaves me cold. It's not bad by any means but it just sounds like a typical contemporary Björk album — lots of attention to detail, great composition, but nothing that really moves me.
Volta falls between two stools, it's not catchy enough to be really pop but not original enough compared to her previous works either — maybe her weakest.
Haven't heard Selmasongs.
>>60335525
I doubt that many people even know that. I didn't.
biophilia > vespertine > medulla > vulnicura > volta > homogenic > debut > post
oh wait i have the ratings in reverse
OR DO I
>>60335540
Vespertine - 9/10

Vulnicura - 6/10
Medulla - 5/10
Volta - 4/10
Post - 4/10
WHERE IS THE _________
>>60335540
>>60335656
>post sucks xD
>>60335709
I'm with you. Post is a rad album.
>>60335656
if you aren't b8ing i love you forever
i mean as soon as you realize biophilia is her best
>>60335726
I'm not baiting at all I just don't like Post outside of a couple tracks
I've only listened to Biophilia a couple times anyway so it might happen
Vespertine>>>rest
Vespertine - 9/10
Homogenic - 9/10
Debut - 7/10
Post - 6.5/10
Vulnicura - 5/10
Biophilia - 4/10
Medulla - 3/10

>>60335540
scaruffi up in this bitch
>>60335709
>post is good
>>60335828
Scaruffi calls Debut her best album
put more effort into your bait
Vespertine - 8/10
Homogenic - 7/10
Gling-glo - 7/10
Debut - 6/10
Medulla - 6/10
Vulnicura - 6/10
Volta - 5/10
Post - 4/10
Biophilia - 4/10
>>60335820
What do you not like about it?
"Post" is amazing, the only reason it is not accepted that much here is because average /mu/tant doesn't enjoy jazz and finds it boring, and craves more for something electronic- and pop-oriented.
At what age did you discover Bjork's music?
>I was 11
>>60335920
literally ridiculous bait
Anyone knows Post is her most pop-oriented album and we ( >>60335656 >>60335907 ) rate Gling-Glo highly when Gling-Glo is literally a jazz album
>>60335937
I was 10 and Vespertine came out that year.
Medulla - 9.5/10
Homogenic - 9/10
Debut - 9/10
Post - 8/10
Vespertine - 7.5/10
Vulnicura - 7/10
Biophilia (I need to revisit this tho) & Volta - 6/10
>>60335920
I didn't enjoy Post because it felt surprisingly vapid compared to the rest of her stuff. Like this guy said (>>60335963), I like Gling-glo, so the idea of people not liking it for the jazz elements might just be projecting.
>>60335995
11 but I didn't really understand until I was older

I think I was 8, my brother downloaded one of her music videos from Napster. the horns in the song are still nostalgic as fuck for me. my big bro was hugely obsessed with bjork when I was growing up.
if you're gonna include gling-glo in your ranking then why leave out her debut album...
pRETTY sure op meant starting from 1993
>>60336164
because 1990 is close to 1993
while 1977 is ridiculously far away
>all these plebs ignoring the true best album
>>60336223
12 year old bjork is the best bjork <3
>>60336223
is this actually any good?
>>60336208
so? it's still her debut album. gling-glo isn't even a bjork studio album. if you're gonna include side projects like that then where is selmasongs, drawing restraint 9, and mount wittenberg orca
>>60336329
First and foremost I included Gling-Glo because it's good
I do actually like Mount Witternberg Orca quite a lot though so I should throw that in at 7/10 or something
Homogenic 8.5/10
Vespertine 8/10
Vulnicura 7/10
Volta 6.5/10
Medúlla 6/10
Post 6/10
Biophilia 4.5/10
Debut 4/10

I think it's mostly just Bjork covering popular music in icelandic. It's cool in a historic viewpoint of her career but idunno beyond that.
i don't trust the new gen of people here getting into bjork b/c they keep calling her pop
>>60336492
>bjork isn't pop
>>60336508
>Björk Guðmundsdóttir (Icelandic pronunciation: [ˈpjœr̥k ˈkvʏðmʏntsˌtoʊhtJr], born 21 November 1965),[3] known mononymously as Björk (/ˈbjɜrk/),[4] is an Icelandic experimental singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and occasional actress.
>experimental musician
I trust muh wiki.
>>60336548
Bjork is in the 'Does her own thang' genre. She has some pop songs though, Venus as a Boy was pretty poppy
>>60336548
experimental pop exists
it's still in the pop style (usually) and very popular
>>60336548
>>60336563
for example no one denies that Bowie was an "experimental musician" but saying Bowie isn't pop is stupid
>>60335400
Vespertine > Post > Homogenic > Vulnicura > Medulla > Debut > Volta > Biophilia
That was actually pretty tough because they're all pretty great.
>>60336548
even a few sentences further it says:
>Over her three-decade solo career, Björk has developed an eclectic musical style that incorporates aspects of electronic,[9] alternative dance,[9][10] trip hop,[11] experimental,[12][13] glitch,[14] jazz,[15] alternative rock,[16][17] avant-garde,[18] and classical music.[19]
>pop not on the list :^)
>>60336581
Bowie was about as far from an experimental musician as you can get, only people that don't know shit about other 70s music would call him that
>>60336600
>let's_play_scaruffi_says.jpg
>>60336581
Wow, if calling one of the biggest rockstars ever a pop artist isn't a bait, I don't know what is.
>>60336560
i don't think anyone would deny she has pop songs. but to call her discography pop music is inaccurate and makes 0 sense
>>60335400
My personal favourites:
