To me they're just a noise rock band that uses noise to justify their existence, when really they're a band with some incredibly annoying "jazzy" piano thrown into the mix. And while I don't mind sub par vocals that much, when Midori throw in shitty vocals it just strikes the chord of not even trying at all.
Like "hey we're a noise rock band, listen to us make some noisey jazzy shitty rock music" instead of something like The Jesus Lizard where noise is used to inform the songwriting.

I hate Beck's lazy schtick, I think what happened was that he had to "reinvent" himself after every album after Mellow Gold because he knew he'd never be able to write another Loser.
And even that song is fucking lazy, I mean people chastise butt rock constantly but fucking Beck gets away scot free from that? He's basically every stereotypical 90s/80s alternative rock star person mixed into one person but without any of the talent from someone like J Mascis, Kim Gordon or Kurt Cobain.
I'll take Nickelback's Someday over any shit that Beck has written.

Yeah I do appreciate those early experiments into ambient and drone music but actually sitting down to listen to something like Tangerine Dream, Lkaus Schulze or even Harmonia is a chore for me.
I guess not everything can age as well as Eno and Can have.
What does the ~ signify? Ive always taken it as you're indifferent to it but why even put that if you dont respond to every album?
