I'm taking that next fall, my friend's in it right now and loves it.
It's certinally got the potential to be brilliant, and the MQR version (once all the stupid bits are taken out) is probably getting close to pet sounds.
However, the fact some songs (like Holiday) are missing vocals is an issue.
The Childhood Suite is 10/10, the rest of the album has amazing moments too

Honestly I like that some songs are missing vocals. It makes them feel like intentionally more sleight transition pieces in between the more major compositions (Wonderful, Surf's Up, Cabinessence), which just gives those songs more impact for me.

What I do like about SMiLE being unfinished is that so many of the songs may never have seen the light of day, and the songs which appeared on Smiley Smile may never have ever been written.
I get what you mean about the transitions, the intro to Love to say Dada is so much better as just the ghostly, abstract harmonies, than the shite which was on the BWPS.

Bloomington isn't too bad tbqh family. Then again I grew up further south in Indiana so Bloomington is like a fucking oasis. Still though. Great music scene, good food, lots of record stores. 9/10
