Well you might check out Sumac, it's p good if you blast it on a decent volume. I personally hate most of these weed-bong-high-dope-jesus stoner bands, and haven't really dug into sludge, so I just named what came first.
If you don't mind some really atmo-sludge check out Samothrace's debut. While it's not groovy at all it's really fucking cool.

I like underground traditional Heavy Metal exactly because it's cheesy as fuck.
I don't like NWOBHM too much though, not even Motorhead or Venom. I like Iron Maiden because even to this day they sound unique (except the new albums, they're shit) and I love the Doom Metal of the NWOBHM, Witchfinder and Pagan Altar are great.
