There never was a follow-up.
The album made this hippie cult leader named "Manson" to send a bunch of kids to murder the group and frame it on the Beatles. I guess he listened to "Mrs. O'Leary's Cow" and thought it foretold a great race-war that would be triggered by the Beach Boys' murder.
Mike Love was the sole survivor of the attack, but he went into seclusion for years. In 1988, he finally re-emerged, and released a single, "Summer in Heaven" about the tragedy. It sold 10 million copies.
