Has rap always been secretly the most ironic genre ever? I mean look at it throughout history, with it's main subject being violence sex and drugs; look at the gold chains, the gangster attitude, all this stuff that you'd never see normal people doing unless you lived in the ghetto or something. It makes me wonder how much of what they do is actually just for some long running ironic joke, like "haha look at these fools thinking this is what we're actually like". Can someone confirm this?
