>>60308055
It's in the top 10 for sure.
>>60308062
please refer to this chart
What is some good noise for doing a bunch of speed and being on edge all day
Just made my first noise track. I think it came out all right.

>Venereology
>plebian because they're popular
ok pal
I made this in audacity out of a super minecraft kid video

>>60308213
1930 and hybrid noisebloom are popular too moron.
also plebeian =/= bad
>>60308124
Those are all some of his best albums, except Merzbeat which is just okay and Merzbuta which is in his bottom 5 worst albums.
>>60308233
>1930 and hybrid noisebloom are popular too
nowhere near as much but ok pal
>>60308124
I still need to cop Noisembryo on cd, I own all the others except Merzbuta.
>>60308124
i liked merzbuta
I have a lot of 47 cds on the Pure label coming in the mail soon from the bay, almost all of the releases on the label, hope they are in decent shape:

>>60308707
probably a long shot, but does anyone have Wolf Eyes very early releases? like their 90s tapes?
really interested to hear how they sound
>>60308666
my phone is dead so I can't take a pic, but this came recently. unfortunately their sizes run rather large so it doesn't fit me well.
So I'm looking at making a tape series based on various fetishes. Does anyone know what sort of plastic is used for magnetic tape?

Sun pandemonium :) what a great album
hi /noise/
I'm a complete newbie to noise in general and was wondering if you guys had an essentials list I could work through?
Failing that, can you guys rec me something if I like Yellow Swans, I Am A Lake of Burning Orchids, the Goslings, and Oneohtrix Point Never songs like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qW9MHtYeQCA
>trying to contact IAALOBO
>he erased his tumblr
>he erased his bandcamp
>the dude who released Summer In My Veins on CD is dead
>[email protected] doesn't exist
>lives literally in the other side of the planet
>no more activity on his other projects (Laurel Noose, Chambering)
Yet he still released Apart this year.
Really, what the fuck.
>>60313204
If you like that OPN track, head into the stuff that he and his contemporaries were doing early on: Bee Mask, Lilypad, Skin Graft, Andrew Coltrane, Dog Lady, Tarpit. Old labels to look into: Mistake By The Lake, Excite Bike, A Soundesign Recording, Young Tapes, JK Tapes, Arbor, Tusco/Embassy, Pizza Night, Hermitage Tapes, Middle James Co, Fag Tapes, Cylindrical Habitat Modules.
Okay /noise/. Who's more of a tool? Breakdancing Ronald Reagan or RedSK?
>>60313204

>>60314516
>RedSK
Who's that then
>>60314568

I thought more people here would have heard of him. He's even more prolific and just as talentless as BRR.
>>60314600
Oh
I've never really given a shit about netlabels so it makes sense I'd never heard of him, plus nothing about that discogs grabs me at all
>>60308974
Some are on their bandcamp. Check it out!
bumping with that fuckin TIGHT industrial
>>60314516
BRR. Redsk may be a tool in person but I havent seen his web presence at all, save for all his edgy bandcamp shit.
>>60311244
Anyone? ;(
>>60315636
Great album
>Don't be naive darling!
Listening to pic related now. I fucking love tribal rhythms in noise. Merzbow with percussion is always promising
>>60315758
If you can torrent, its here in 320 http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2503452 i'd get it but im out of town for work till tomorrow.
Also thanks to the guy who reupped those books, i'll update the pastebin when possiblez
does anyone know of any good links for merzbow's merzmorphosis (full set) and the merzbox? i know merzbox has been uploaded in full to youtube but it's time consuming downloading every video individually.
>>60308055
>>60308062
venereology is literally drunken merzbow, he even said it's very important to know that he was on lots of alcohol making it. you can tell. the followup releases were electric salad and pulse demon, apparently done sober. i think you can hear that too, especially in electric salad which is full of very novel elements and, to me, gives the impression of "piecing the mind back together" after the dissolution of being intoxicated. venereology stands out in the catelogue for being kind of a crazy free for all, it sounds like a serial killer's psychotic state.
merzbow has so many releases that it's fine for fans to find their own favorites. different things have their appeal. personally i really love and adore his 'merzbient' work, not just that particular box set but many releases on the merzbox too. mostly where he's clanging random metals and stuff and it's not full on harsh wall of noise or speedy, it's more meditative, abstract, surreal. i find it very good music to accompany reading. on the merzbox, fission dialogue is a good example of this [disc 28].
i wanted to buy a merzbient vinyl set but it's very expensive and i don't have a decent vinyl player, so besides the relic quality of owning it, i'm not so sure it's a wise purchase. i fear that i'd regret it and feel conned somehow, even though i get pleasure out of simply having the files on my computer, so, i dunno.
i'd like to talk about merzbow and drugs. he says he is straightedge and opposed to smoking. he made venereology drunk. does anyone else think or suspect that he used to use anything else? like speed, or psychedelics? they used to sell shrooms in japan headshops apparently, sometimes i wonder if he used them back in the day, but maybe not. i know, i know, you don't need drugs to make "weird music", but if your ordinary sober state feels inescapable mundane and your personality too present and bubbly, drugs can help dissociate a bit into a creative sphere
>>60314750
you picked up your ticket for MAPS yet? probably a good idea
>>60316161
I doubt he's always been straight edge, he used to be really into bondage porn and that's not known for being a sober culture. I'd bet he's at least tried a number of drugs before swearing off of them.
>>60316270
that's what i always wonder, did a young masami blow his mind sky high on some potent acid or something, or is his music just a reflection of a lifelong interest in surrealism mixed in with his early love of rock music and free jazz?
>>60316270
This right here. I'd bet Masami has done all the drugs.
Besides, he's in the noise scene. The noise scene is high as shit on hard drugs all the time.
>>60316314
keiji haino and asahito nanjo are anti-drugs, and haino claims to be lifelong no smoking, no drugs, no drinking. only a fondness for cakes.
>>60315912
Ah I see. I can't torrent atm either. Thanks though. ;(
>>60316326
I believe you but I'm surprised. Then again this is Japan we're talking about - just kidding.
Still, Merz seems like the kinda guy who'd "At least do it once".
>>60316303
>did a young masami blow his mind sky high on some potent acid or something
he doesn't act like it, I know a few people like that and merzbow is far too well thought out and he has too much self control in interviews for me to think that the after affects of acid are a major reason he's so into noise.

Venereology excluded, I've never associated Merzbow (or the japanese noise scene) with drugs.
One thing I like about Incapacitants and Hijokaidan is they way they embrace the mundane and wrench something strange out of it
>As Loud as Possible cover is just the duo eating breakfast
>Modern cover is snapshots of the band
>Ferocity of Practical Life
In a society generally known for being orderly and conformist, making and performing noise is enough. And like >>60316439 says, Merz definitely has a lot of discipline in what he does
>>60314057
Nah, Apart is from 2011. why do you think it's from this year? Even the youtube-uploads are from 2014, so it can't be from 2015.
>>60316270
>>60316314
The japanese noise scene in particular draws a lot of inspiration and impetus from the 70s psychedelic music culture (this is super obvious with Masonna's side projects in particular) so it's safe to say that a lot of them ate literal reams of tabs.
Is there any rip of Flare Gun on WCD that's over 192kbps?
>>60317829
Unfortunately not.
does anyone here have anything they could share by heart2heart? i'm having trouble finding anything myself
pretty tiny discography but they have releases on callow god(pictured, a split tape with impregnable) and hospital and that's always enough to get me interested
>>60317089
>https://www.facebook.com YourSonIsDead/
this is great but its not noise
>>60318584
Ripped the Callow God tape a while ago - Heart2Heart's side is pretty underwhelming, but that could probably just be because they're paired with Impregnable who can literally do no wrong.

I have a copy of To Spite You, but haven't ripped it yet.
It arrived.
I highly rec anybody to give this a listen.

any Deathpile albums as good as this one?
>>60321229
ne plus ultra
vocals take a backseat on that one though, it's all about the noise
There's the Blindfold Test thread for guessing jazz tracks that's been going on lately, and I was thinking if we could do something similar for noise
Of course, noise has much less active artists, so the selection won't be as wide. Maybe we could only post segments out of a track. Maybe we can even post a track by a known artist, and guess in what time of the artist's output it was made.
Anyone up for it?
>>60321449
>Of course, noise has much less active artists
it's still more than enough, considering how prolific most artists are, to never guess a specific title

whats a really powerful albums? ive been loving venereology, thousands of dead gods and this album by hal hutchinson, Wreckage Installations & Metalworks. i want to like the history of aids but i just cant get into it for some reason
>>60324563

That's a difficult question to answer.
If you didn't like The History Of Aids, try Oxidation, which might be more to your liking.

what the fuck is the point of this retarded ass fucking chart???

I'm on it my dude
Can someone in this thread tell me why do you like noise? I mean, I ok if someone like noise, If you enjoy it its all ok but why do you like it?
>>60325547
It was more an outgrowth of ambient styling for me
I just loved the soundscapes of dark ambient and noise so much after i heard my first whitehouse album
>>60325547

>>60325547
Opposite off what >>60325602 said, I came from punk rock. The harshness of it started becoming tame. Noise is really the logical conclusion for the aggressiveness of punk and rock in general. I guess I basically like it for the same reason people enjoy punk and metal.
>>60325547
because the deeply personal, self-indulgent and concept-heavy nature of it appeals to me
So, what is the appeal in purist harsh noise wall?
https://youtu.be/cIZ_eZLx39c
>>60325982
>I've always been very obsessive with noise music - early industrial music and what lead to the power electronics thing. I'm fairly well versed in and excited by, still, extreme noise. I have a very select taste for it, believe it or not, and Vomir is the finest exponent of what's called 'HNW' which is harsh noise wall, and the whole concept is that it's one huge, monolithic, static wall of noise and that's it. And its function is however you wish to approach it. I have used it in a number of ways - if you play it at a low enough volume, it's ambient, I can write with it, it's a good trigger for thought. At a louder volume it's about being consumed because it's an unwavering static wall of noise but for me there's absolutely beauty in such uncompromising singularity - I can't help but admire something so fucking monolithic. It's like a never-ending brick wall. It is the ultimate black hole, it is the fucking void of birth and death right before you, you know what I mean? I love this dude, I love this shit. Like I said, it's a movement in itself. People say, "Well anyone can do that" and I often say: "Try it then". And usually it doesn't have the finesse or create the same sense of void.
- Justin K Broadrick (Godflesh, Jesu, etc.) about Vomir/HNW

The western NY scene is pretty solid. Lots of good acts around Buffalo, Ithaca, Rochester. Waves Crashing Piano Chords, Swallowing Bile, Foot And Mouth Disease, Tumul, Pengo. Tours go through here often and I've seen Wolf Eyes, Hair Police, Sick Llama, Spacek multiple times in town. The Wolf boyz even put out two AmTapes releases named after our local delicacy, the Garbage Plate.

Chicagoland area here. I have no idea.
Some years ago, I was at a friend's gig and there was one dude making drone with a keyboard. I wasn't into that stuff at the time, so I went outside with most of the other people. Now I wish I had given him a chance, or at least gotten his name.
i think i make the best noise here. everybody else is pretty much shit.

isn't the "no coast noise" thing with club rectum/fusty cunt/koufar etc. happening around chicago and that general area?
something to look into, my man
>>60338811

club rectum events are private and the club constantly changes location if i'm not mistaken, your best bet would be to keep an eye on the usual noise forums until someone posts a thread regarding an upcoming event in the club and then contacting that person about getting in
the consumer electronics gig i posted above went down a month and a half ago
