Not really how it works. Pitchfork is who doesn't care about them any more. First record will get 8.1. They'll hype the shit out of the second album give it 8.7 and BNM. Then post interviews with the band and articles about the recording process and how the band signals some paradigm shift in indie. Then they post news on the front page every time the band takes a shit or someone captures grainy footage of them playing a half assed cover. Finally, everything else the band puts out will get less than 5.0. Pitchfork only cares about making artists, once you get your one popular tour it's fuck you you're dead to me and onto the next band.
Really kills the indie model desu, if I was in some shit band like Wavves I'd sign that major label deal as soon as possible and at least make some sell out cash cause Pitchfork and the indie community is gonna forget about you and stop caring quicker than anybody.
