I have no trouble understanding that someone might enjoy the odd listen of the Beatles. It's music like anything else is and might have a certain interesting quality to it that you enjoy or even love. In my experience I find the music enjoyable and interesting in some ways. I don't think that thematically in terms of art the Beatles displayed anything that was particular mind bending or genius but that's honestly just my a opinion.
I do feel that the Beatles' exploration and exploitation of certain "psychedelic"... Again in my honest opinion pseudo-psychedelic sounds, was integral to the development of everything from brilliant and creative use of sound engineering techniques l, a popular sing along four chord rock and roll that appealed to a wide audience, clever uses of media for mass consumption of pop music (entertaining films, funny interview appearances, George Harrison in Saturday night live and helping the Monty Python gang put out life of Brian), bringing George Martin into the limelight..... Anyway you get the picture. For me I just like them because through them I discovered a fucking tonne of very wonderful art. My gateway drug to so many artists I never would have found at the time had I not been baptized by the almighty everlasting light of the bamboozling four knights of pop rock.... I think of them the same way I think of Trent Reznor as a pathway to better industrial... Cloufghtck Gen, Cevin, Dwayne, Ohgr, Ministry, SP, Hiwatt Marshall, Pigface, TG, DG, Swans, Einsturzende Neubauten, Kraftwerk, :wumpscut, Jesus Lizard, Tool, Download, Spahn Ranch, Screw, Prong, Combichrist, Rammstein, MM, Fadgadget, Coil, Thirlwell...and so on and so on.
