So its pretty much been confirmed that TPP will fuck up everything for piracy and that it kinda sucks

What are you doing to prepare? Gettin 100 VPNs? Downloading a ton of music and media now? Removing everything you've uploaded so that they can't track you? discuss
>>
>>60279525
>getting vpn
>appreciating downloaded stuffs even more
>doing more things outdoor
>plan on joining a pull-up competition (strict form, no crossfit bullshit) in the future, fat fit fuck here that can do 20 strict form but haven't workout in 6 months

TPP may fuck me in the ass but at least I am able to walk away from it. Or at least away from my computer.

I live in a red state and both of my senators are backing it and if I remember correctly we only need 5 more senators to say no to make it not pass. It probably won't do shit but I want to call them / send them an email and shit. Anyone wanna give me a draft so it sounds professional and shit?
>>
>>60279590
Not from America but my country is part of the TPP agreement, not sure but if there is a rally I'm definitely joining

Frame the angle of costly medicine and how 3rd world will suffer due to medicine price hike. That way indirectly it effect your music downloading. Remember if your discourse is about music download, no one will give a shit, make it be emotional, how people will suffer when TPP comes into place.
>>
Everything is moving forward as usual you sensationalist faggot. Piracy laws are staying the same in the US, since those are already in place
>>
>>60280554
Soulseek won't be around, or there won't be anyone to download from.
>>
>>60279525
In reality, it might slow down some pirating for a time, but the internet is a force of nature. Don't be worried.

Question
“Is TPP another SOPA or PIPA?”
Answer
No. On the contrary, TPP enshrines openness and the free flow of trade and data across country borders in the fastest-growing region of the world.
We believe that the power of the Internet rests in ensuring that anyone who is connected can reap its benefits. That is why we are committed to an open Internet based on the values of free expression, privacy, security, and innovation.
But under new forms of protectionism, we’ve seen unprecedented attempts to roll back Internet freedom and access to U.S. products and services. That’s why TPP puts in place strong rules that make sure the best communications tools and platforms are not unduly limited by trade barriers and laws that restrict the flow of data and information or requirements that companies must store data locally.
TPP would not change the existing and well-established U.S. rules for responding to the serious problem of Internet piracy. So, TPP is not SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) or PIPA (PROTECT IP Act). TPP will protect legitimate digital trade, and will not, for example, require ISPs to monitor their systems.
>>
why isnt reddit doing something about this

someone tell them to do something fast
>>
>>60280684
He's right though. All this death of the internet stuff is retarded. Piracy is not going away, and the laws that the TPP are putting in place are similar to the laws already in place in the US, and I'll assume you pirate plenty without ever seeing repercussions. Don't be hyperbolic.

Seriously you are no different than those who are paranoid of TPP, just the bi-polar of it, telling people that everything is okay when people are just preparing for the worst to come.

The copyright holders don't have anymore litigation resources or finances to contain privacy anymore than they did seven years ago. Worst case scenario, this passes and a couple file-sharing sits go down and literally nothing is changed in the grand scheme of things.

The narrative behind the whole thing has just been reduced to clickbait scare pieces and ridiculously blown out of proportion. Take it from an IT major, this kind of thing is impossible to enforce to the extent that it suggests.

>basically saying "all this fearmongering is stupid!"
While you are correct, I must go with the flow and assume you're being paid by the hand-rubbing Semites in power to spread misinformation so that people will continue to pirate and, once passed, the law will waste tons of resources and bag more people than the prison system of any country can handle. Why would they want to do that? I don't know, but you're a shill regardless.

There's still the issue of fucked worker rights, medicine prices, oil exploitation and more power for corporations. Any step in that direction has giant fucking warning signs.
Also copyright laws WILL change so Disney can keep the rights to Mickey Mouse, that's literally like half the reason this bullshit is happening.

Not a whole lot. Cautiously skeptical here.

My internet's too shit for that shit.
>Downloading a ton of music and media now?
Kinda. I mean, i went from having a clean backlog to currently having a dozen unlistened albums in a folder titled "new." So yeah. Hoarding. Just a little.
>Removing everything you've uploaded so that they can't track you?
Nah. I live outside US jurisdiction so i consider myself somewhat safe.

>protests in New Zealand and elsewhere
>enough outrage in Japan to convince the government to allow doujins to fly under the law
Plenty of people are making their cases for plenty of different reasons. I guarantee you, anything so draconian as to force people to buy expensive brand name drugs (because muh copyright infringement by generic drugs) will get mangled by the public. There are already rumblings now, but if it gets passed and that happens, there'll be outrage.

People are trying, just not because of piracy, and that's a good thing - like it or not, the opposition looks better saying "buying these meds will put me out on the street" instead of "I DEMAND FREE MUSIC".

They fucking planned for this. Everything is super sneaky, media is quiet about it or painting protests in a bad light, Reddit deleting threads and banning people over it, very possibly hire people to write good things about it across the web, Google is probably in on this shit too so don't expect one of those daily banners about it, in general they've lulled normies into accepting this bullshit.

We're not scaremongering, this is really happening.
>>
>>60282784
I've noticed that Reddit doesn't have any sort of uproar about this? Why not? I noticed the news painting Atlanta protests about it in a very negative light.

Before this thread dies, can I ask everyone concerned a few questions?

For Amerifats, when the DMCA came around, was this how you reacted? Unless I'm really missing something, this won't go much further, in reach or enforcement.

For everyone in the area TTP and TTIP will affect, why is this happening now that implementation is possibly on the horizon? I saw threads every now and again (on /mu/ and elsewhere), but those were a year or two ago, and no one cared. Reddit has been talking about it even longer before, as have other places, and all these points you're all worried about have been known and discussed for a while.

I just find it strange that this all chose to explode NOW, even though other places have already been fighting this and WikiLeaks has been publishing drafts for so long.
>>
>>60283757
The closer it gets, the more crazy people get, also information about it spreads more.
Saying something will happen in two years isn't as alarming as saying it will happen in two months.
>>
>>60279525
You should probably get a vpn anyways because your isp is most likely throttling your bandwidth, and not to mention the NSA is watching you.

I have serious doubts the TPP will succeed. How are they going to keep people from sharing data. There are so many ways that they can't trace.

What if I shared a folder on a dropbox as a .zip and named it gayporn.zip, and filled it with music and shared it to my favorite buttpirates on the internet(/mu/ of course).

Fear mongering doesn't really give them buisness.

As soon as they latch on to digital distribution and ease of access, they will be more successful.

Look at steam and itunes.

TPP is most likely a bunch of suits who think they can control the world with their vast amounts of wealth, but fuck them. They can't stop me from sharing a private usb of music with my friends.
