I love Electronic but never listened to Aphex Twin because everyone says to start here and it's so fucking boring.
Am I really missing out?
As an ''electronic music'' fan, I've never liked his works either. I respect his contributions but can't listen to his music, it does nothing for me.
But then ''electronic music'' is such a huge umbrella genre, its a dumb blanket thing to say you should start anywhere.
Why don't you listen and find out?
Someone post the intro flowchart
>>60269793 Electronic music includes way too many genres for us to answer that. Give us some examples of what you listen to specifically!
here op
not boring to me desu
>>60269793
>I love Electronic
lol
So thats;
Electroacousmatic
Onkyo, EAI and tap music
Musique concrete
Industrial
Hip hop
Techno
House
Breaks
Trance
Garage
Ambient
Downtempo
Synthpop
Want to narrow that down a bit?
>>60269850
I really like House, Breakbeats, DnB, Trip-Hop, Dubstep (not brostep), that sort of thing.
>>60269856
Weird that of all of his non-album/pseudonym releases they would rec Analord. Most of those are p middling trax.
OP, that isn't really boring, it's immersive ambient techno. But RDJ does like 50 other things so I would sample many of his other albums.
>>60269899
t b h I'm not a big fan of Aphex Twin but I love his dance-y AFX stuff
Going by what you like, you'll prob enjoy that as well
>>60269899
Well listen to some of his more breakbeat stuff then

>>60269915
I agree. What other releases do you recommend?
>>60269888
how is hip-hop electronic music by nature?
>>60269942
if it wasn't electronic it would just be poetry
>>60269856
holy fuck this is a terrible flowchart
>>60269960
I don't think you understand what hip-hop is
>>60269942
i mean how is it not? look at the instrumentals for instance, there pretty much all elctronically based (apart from the jazzier hip-hop), plus early hip-hop was based around sampling, the miami bass scene revolved around the 808, and much of the early hip hop was electro - influenced by kraftwerk.
>>60269942
It began as black youths in the Bronx spinning breakbeats on turntables for bboys to dance to.
Its now electronically produced dance music just with more emphasis on the rapping.
How is it not electronic music?
yeah aphex twin is pretty awesome. he has a lot of different sounds, so just take your time and listen to a couple albums
>>60269942
Hip-hop is traditionally sample based, i.e. made with a sampler/computer, an electronic instrument
>>60269942
>>60269942
>>60269932
Well I think u should check out Hangable Auto Bulb by AFX, Analogue Bubblebath 4, Donkey Rhubarb, Drukqs, The Richard D. James Album, Analord 10, like half of Come To Daddy, 2 Remixes by AFX, Didgeridoo, Surfing on Sine Waves, and I Care Because You Do.
>>60270027
>forgetting Rushup Edge
literally the best thing he released in the 2000s
>>60269942
How does this work without electricity?
>>60270027
Oh shit, and definitely Windowlicker. If you haven't heard Windowlicker listen to that right now on a good set-up.
>>60269942
Is this a joke
>>60270040
Shit yea ur right man.
>>60270044
Oh okay so are pop, rock, country, metal, and jazz electronic music too? Those microphones and amps require electricity you know.
What professional album isn't mixed and mastered????
>>60270056
nice meme my main man to be honest
>>60270268
okay but do you have a rebuttal for
>>60269992
>>60269993
>>60269998
>>60270023
>>60269942
take out the raps and it's downtempo or chill out. how is it not electronic?
>>60269856
Terrible chart. Just listen to his albums chronologically.
SAW 85-92 is by far his most accessible work.
>>60270268
Electronics =! electrical
Altho desu most modern equipment is electronic to some extent
>>60269856
why would you reccommend drukqs to anyone
>>60271901
solid album, probably one of his best
>>60269803
I usually hate electronic music, but I love everything Richard does.
>>60269888
Oh fuck off.
>>60269856
>not starting with SAW 85-92
>starting with Come To Daddy
Top b8

it`s mostly pretentious rocktards who recommend Aphex Twin along with Autechre
if you`re into electronic the best starting points are Depeche Mode, Prodigy, Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers and Trentemoller. Late 80s and 90s were the best years desu.
>>60273837
it could also be because they're good tbqh
>>60273837
I would add also Orbital, Underworld, New Order, Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre, Gary Numan, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Royksopp to the list.
>>60273837
>crystal method
>chemical brothers
>prodigy
you're fucking kidding right?

aphex twin is a genius and his music spans all sorts of moods, so if you don't like one then try another.
>>60269856
if they took out come to daddy it would be a decent chart
>>60269888
What about noise
>>60269803
>>60276077
this "aphex twin is a genius" is already tiring. he did some great music and some awful music: that doesn't mean that any other electronic artist is shit.
and for the record: underworld > afx, orbital > afx.
>>60276476
>aphex
>awful music
name 1 tune.
god i hate fanboys
