Albums you don't get, other people go "wtf, why don't you like that album?" and then you talk about it.

>the Microphones - the Giraffe Album
I think it becomes just dull and boring after "The Roots Are Strong And Deep"

>HANL - Deathconsciousness
The drums sound like shit. I know they're supposed to sound like shit, but that doesn't mean I have to like them.

>Swans - any early material except for Filth
For some reason I like Filth, but stuff like Cop or Young God EP (maybe there's slightly more midrange EQ'd in on the Filth tracks? I'm not sure) sounds kinda shitty to me right now.

>Kanye West - 808s and Heartbreaks
There are some nice pop cuts, but a lot of the later album is just kinda dull.

It's slow and boring, I just don't get the appeal.
>>
Any Titus Andronicus

Just sounds like glorified New Jersey dadrock
>>
>>60266370
desu i get bored after the first track finishes the actual music

i don't understand the appeal of random background noises and whatnot
>>
>stuff like Cop or Young God EP (maybe there's slightly more midrange EQ'd in on the Filth tracks? I'm not sure) sounds kinda shitty to me right now.

Think of Cop as the Swans trying to be the heaviest thing of all time. Act like you're being squashed by every inch of the ground.
>>
>Dull

If this is the problem no one can help you.

Get over it.
>>
>>60266370
Yeah, I don't really get the appeal of GY!BE in general, apart from maybe Slow Riot, which is more accessible.

The Pixies' discography is subpar at best, why does everyone suck their dicks?
>>
>>60266601
You need to listen to early Beefheart and study abstract art a bit more.
>>
>>60266601
Focus on the percussion.

Also get into early 60s blues rock stuff.
>>
soundtracks for the blind is boring and far too long

So you're saying it's Led Zeppelin but with some random bangs in the background.

I seriously want to like the Microphones, but I really can't get into the second half of the Glow Pt. 2. I did enjoy Mt. Eerie, though, and while I appreciate that album a lot more as a whole, I enjoyed the earlier parts of the Glow even more. Any recs? Honestly, it doesn't even have to be the Microphones at this point, any similar record by some other band would do, so long as it's like some workable mishmash between the first half of the Glow pt. 2 and Mt. Eerie.
>>
>>60267155
You'd like It Was Hot by The Microphones, and check out Mount Eerie Pts.6&7 it's very looked over but is one of Phil's bests.
>>
>>60267210
>Mount Eerie Pts.6&7
Wait, what? Are those demos or something? Are they on his bandcamp?
>>
>>60267242
Just look it up the mega on /mu/ archive, it's not demos, just a continuation with some catchy songs and an amazing drone metal bit at the end.

This isn't really that bad. It's a blues rock album with weird instrumentation, that's all.

The dadaist lyrics are a plus.
>>
>>60265810
I agree, actually. After My Roots are Strong and Deep, there are only 3 or 4 pretty good songs, none of which are nearly as good as the first few.
>>
I dunno guys, maybe this album isn't for me
>>60266905
It is all about the mood man and it being too long isn't the albums fault, that is your fault for having a shit attention span.
>>60266709
Because it is one of the best. Tis all about the mood as well. That being said it takes multiple listens, in my case that is, to fully appreciate this album.

Huh, it is pretty cool, actually! Thanks, man! I better look at the other Mount Eerie records as well. There's only one proper album, isn't there?

Yeah I can't get into Pixies either. Just seems like above-average college rock for whatever that's worth.

Check this out anon. Mostly acoustic folk with softly sung vocals. Later albums sound very much like Mount Eerie/Microphones.

How the fuck do you find Laughing Stock boring?
Just give it another listen, there's so much stuff going on and every track is wildly different from the last. Don't put it on in the background while you shitpost memes, actually listen to it.
>>
>>60266370
>>60266905
I love both these albums but can understand why someone wouldn't like them. For both I would recommend lying down and not really doing much besides listening which is my favorite way to experience them. Still may not be for you but shit happens we all like different music

>>
>>60275331
Yeah but how do you explain what there is to "get" about an album if their complaints are terrible to begin with?
