Whatcha listening to?
Anything rad coming in the mail?
Why is Stimbox so good?
Does anybody like this Croatian Armor record as much as I do?

And more!

Hey gang, which substance do you think goes best with noise? Personally I think it's alcohol or weed. Granted those are the only two substances I have listened to any noise with.

I want to, but it's pretty hard to find people who like low frequencies and screams.
The most edgy scene here is powerviolence and stuff, I tried to find people there who could like noise but nothing happened.

have tried to open for some powerviolence act?(I bet you did, but this is standard question)

If you didn't go all out then they are pretty shitty. I'd say go for it. I am only noise-person in my city but some nonmusicians loved to play harsh noise with me(one guy had broken guitar and just strummed it really really fast when i used it as a part of my feedbackloop. Yet another was into dronedoom and had bass so we used that to have that nice bassy texture and shit). Also I'd say: Stay off the musicians cause they just don't understand, man.

I'd like to get into noise but I don't know how. What do you guys look for when you listen to noise music?
>>
>>60241816
>What do you guys look for when you listen to noise music?
an interesting aural aesthetic.
that explanation is broad to the point of being useless but I usually find noise more interesting if it's somewhat hypnotic, stuff like aube - flare, aaron dilloway - psychic driving tapes, or mo*te - life in a peaceful new world. all of these are more "slow moving" noise. but this is entirely up to personal taste. some people like cathartic, aggressive noise. when I'm in the mood for that I usually turn to power electronics. my personal favorites are consumer electronics' recent output and sutcliffe jugend - blue rabbit.
>>
>>60241930

The album that really got me interested was 1930 by Merzbow, not wall of noise-y like Pulse Demon and nice and textural

drums. nice. Very melodic. Vocals are weird. IMO they don't fit with all this heavy instrumental. They also stand out a bit too much. Drummer let me down a bit around 2:00. He had that nice groove going. Slow, crushin and then fucked it up(but at least he finished it pretty logically). My god again.
I've got a feeling that this change of pace is very forced. It doesn't feel right but it was necessary. MY GAWD FASTERERERER. Playing at hihat ksz kszksz still doesn't fit at all.
Yeah, more lonely synth with weird things in the other channel. Pretty unsurprising interlude.
DRUMMER YOU DING DONG. And back to the beginning, now he fits with his fills. I want to know synth player in a biblical sense. I love that sounds of drumsticks in the back ground during quiet phase.
Strange, you finished yet you have two more minutes to end of the track.

yellow tears opened for the wolf boys? fuck, that's an excellent way to spend an evening
>>
>>60249611
Yeah it was great. There were like four faggots trying to mosh during Yellow Tears. People were just trying to watch the show. I'm significantly built compared to the faggots so every time they bumped into or pushed me I kind of shrugged them off. Other people were getting pissed though (I mean I was too but whatever).

The people moshing probably didn't realize Yellow Tears is a 'performance art' thing too. I'm not against mashing or anything but maybe if you are the only four people doing it, maybe try not to be that big of a cunt?

Excellent evening. How are Yellow Tears recordings? I wonder how they translate. Seems like it is supposed to be a live act/show.
>>
>>60250072
i could see moshing make sense during wolf eyes(at least as long as they weren't doing one of those dubbed-out atmospheric sets) but having to put up with someone doing it during a YT show would get old real fast
someone should have told those cunts to settle down

>How are Yellow Tears recordings? I wonder how they translate. Seems like it is supposed to be a live act/show.

they're responsible for some of the most vivid and expertly-crafted noise and industrial releases of the last 15 years, you should hunt down anything you can by them

working in HNW always seemed to me to be a way for lazy, creatively bankrupt people to still get to call themselves artists or claim that they're engaging in creative activity while putting in a minimum possible amount of effort into that activity

the subjectivity argument is fair enough but doesn't change my subjective opinion on HNW, which is that it's by and large a useless genre

sam mckinlay's a great artist by any definition i can think of
ramirez's werewolf jerusalem is a really hit-or-miss project but there's some fantastic work there as well
i don't care much for what vomir is doing but i can respect the unwavering devotion he has to it, as well as the total absence of pretentiousness when it comes to his reasoning for his work
aside from that i really have no interest or admiration for HNW at all, as far as i'm concerned it's a genre that could have began and ended with the rita

i still do have a great deal of admiration for plenty of noise which served as a major inspiration for HNW or sometimes mistakenly get thrown in under the HNW tag(hijokaidan, OVMN, dead body love, taskmaster, sewer election, immaculate:grotesque and so on) though

>>60256037

most of my favorite PD releases predate her involvement but i think that the group's the best it's ever been now(especially live), if that makes any sense
east fork/north fork and austere are among PD's best, and from what i've been hearing and reading(didn't listen to the album myself yet) the architector is quite an achievement as well

Hey, I've got a gear question

My setup currently consists of my noisemakers and my mixer, so I've just sent my mixer to whatever the PA setup is at the shows I've played at - I'm looking into being self-reliant though, and I'm not sure what I'd need. (I've been a drummer before I started this so I didn't learn shit about gear from my punk career)

I've thought about just going from the mixer into a guitar amp, since I have one of those, but I know the low frequencies can fuck with guitar amps and I don't want to risk ruining one, especially if I want to go loud - would something like a keyboard amplifier work better? I'd prefer not to have a separate amplifer and speaker, if at all possible

Ba. Ku. - Ritual Totemic Stone
Emaciator - Triumph
Evenings - Day Terrors
The Gerogerigegege - Kitanomaru Hyakkei
Macronympha - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Macronympha - Melting Softly Into Time
Macronympha - Cut-Ups, Drones & Other Weird 1993-2007
Prurient - Oxidation
Runzelstirn & Gurgelstock - Asshole / Snail Dilemma
Skin Graft - Cancerous
The Sodality - Beyond Unknown Pleasures
Virgin Spring - Absolute Decline

Probably more but I can't remember them at the moment (says loads about how they're my favorites, right)

>>
>>60288058
http://www.discogs.com/Vomir-Claustration/release/1305991
there's quite a bit more than 1
my personal favorite HNW is still probably thousands of dead gods, although if you count the Vomir & Yoshihiro Kikuchi collab as HNW it's in the running for my AOTY
>>
>>60288058
>also post your favorite hnw.
what's yours?
>>
>>60288330
I dont really have one, Im very very new to hnw, so I guess at the moment it is Claustration 1(the only hnw song I have listened to ever).
>>
>>60288373
ah, I'd say thousands of dead gods is better because it's built from a field recording of a shark diving expedition so you get small bits of sound from the field recording, particularly vocals, buried in the mix. it makes for a much more interesting listening experience. other HNW I'd suggest would be mo*te- life in a peaceful new world, which is a two part evolving wall and vàg - music for smoke-filled elevators, which is a collection of shorter ambient noise wall songs. claustration is a great example of purist HNW though.
I think everything I've listed is in here

aw shit son, John Zorn's the shit. Give Spillane a spin, if you like the more lounge-jazz side of Zorn. It shares the same idea stylistically as Naked City but it's even better.
Also supersilent's 1-3,Tom Cora and David Moss's Cargo Cult Revival, Mnemonist Orchestra, Mats Gustafsson's Mouth Eating Trees And Related Activities are great examples of noise-jazz

hey, aspiring noisemaker here.
what should I look for in a mixer for no-input, noise, or guitar(generated)noise music? Also any recommendations for an amp? I prefer analogue over digital simply because of how artificial digital distortion can sound. There's a certain sort of authenticity that comes with analogue distortion. That being said, I personally mix the two.
