How old were you when you realized was a limited artform incapable of adequately expressing the complexities of the human condition and moved on to more mature and complex forms of art like cinema and literature?
>>
>Cinema is more mature than music
Wrong
Only literature is
>>
>>60189061
Music's abstract nature makes us project onto it and teaches far more about the self than any movie
>>
>>60189061
/tv/ is literally the worst board and cinema is a the lowest form of "art" (kek)
>>
>>60189080
visual arts too lad

cinema is only slightly over 100 years old and had surpassed music as an art halfway through that run, sorry for your limit block buster exposer
>>60189163
narrative driven film is for babbys

Music is the best artform because it combines both perception (cinema) and imagination (literature).

>Our Century (Peleshian, 1982)

>Pictures of the Old World (Hanak, 1972)
>Tundra (Casas,2007)
the list goes on bois
>>
>>60189307
they aren't even an artform lmao
>>
>>60189307
no, that would be theatre
>>
>>60189375
Also music affects our emotions much quicker than cinema or literature.

The thing is, cinema combines dialogue (type of literature), soundtrack (for /mu/ fags) and visuals. It really is the best art form.

i cant imagine those panties are at all comfy to wear

By this logic video games are above film because they add interactivity.

Complexity in art, like in anything else, has nothing to do with quality
>>
>>60189490
What a shitty argument
By this logic video games are equally great.
>>
>>60189061
>implying cinema would be anything without music
>>
>>60189490
the best cinema scripts can't match the best books and the best soundtracks can't match the best albums

btw it's silly to compare the artforms, it's not a competition. there are moments for each one of them and each one has its advantages
>>
I want to get into film making, but I'm poor and have no connections

Cinema is the combination of visual, literature, and music. It's the best.
>>
>>60189307
Video Games have the potential, but right now most of it is just pure hedonistic commercial trash
>>
>>60189531
no, because Video games have never felt life like.
>>60189517
>>
>>60189448
Still torn on this. Spent a lot of years contributing (with some success) to the experimental games scene, and don't want it to have been a waste. but some times I step back, realize all of my favourite art is film, music, and literature, and wonder if it might be time to jump ship before I've put all of my eggs in this basket and have nowhere else to turn.

I still think they have a lot of potential, but every year I grow up a little more, and less and less games capture my interest.
>>
The effect of music is so very much more powerful and penetrating than is that of the other arts, for these others speak only of the shadow, but music of the essence.
>>
>>60189717
That's some bombastic shit you wrote there, m8.

Video Games are still relatively new, but the idea of interactive art or even experimental worlds could become a thing. Especially with VR the possibilities of creating artistic experiences will be far beyond anything ever done
>>
>>60189743
It's Schopenhauer, m8.
>>
Music is more visceral than any of the arts. Fuck off
>>
>>60189823
Music is the inspiration which all art and stories follow, which inspires more music which inspires more art. It's really special when all art is combined, such as film.
>>
>>60189791
He died before films were made, you fucking idiot.

And?
He's still right.

none of you answered my question

Nah, he would have altered his opinion if he was around to witness film, I'm sure. Next time, use a more relevant quote.
