don't worry OP, maybe someday you'll be able to get an erection again

>world
Barely anyone uses this, most of the time people refer to the subgenre/genre of world/trad folk music the piece is in.
>>
>>63297613
This is what people on the board will know about jazz and electronic
>jazz
new orleans, swing, bebop, hard bop, post bop, modal jazz, cool jazz, free jazz, avant-garde jazz, jazz fusion, nu-jazz, acid jazz, trip-hop (if you want to go that far)
>electronic
electro, techno, house, garage, trance, idm, drum and bass, ambient, breakbeat, downtempo, industrial, krautrock

Most people on this board don't know much about the other two, but thinking that electronic and jazz aren't conceptually and historically well understood on /mu/ is pretty ignorant of the board.
>>
>>63297613
it already stopped

This is what people on the board will know about jazz and electronic
>jazz
bebop, hard bop, free jazz, avant-garde jazz, jazz fusion, trip-hop (Portishead, Mezzanine)
>electronic
techno, house, garage, idm, drum and bass (goldie and Pendulum) , ambient, industrial, krautrock, hip hop

Most people on this board don't know much about the other two, but thinking that electronic and jazz are listened to outside of hard bop, free jazz, French house, IDM and memerap is pretty ignorant of the board.

Thats the point Montie.

The only genres I use in tagging are rock, pop, hip-hop, electronica, country, jazz, gospel, classical and metal.

Fight me.

Apart from metal being separated from rock, thats about how it should be.
>>
>>63298104

What's the difference? Also what's the difference between metal and heavy metal? What is hard rock? What genre would you consider ac/DC? Black Sabbath?
>>
>>63298085
how are you this retarded. kill yourself montie
>>

I've often wondered why there aren't more "world" folk music threads on here.

>>63298160
metal's for high test motherfuckers and suicidal teens, rock's for nostalgic plebs and dads
hard rock is rock that's harder than your average 60's rock, but still not metal
heavy metal is metal, so are other metal subgenres
ac/dc is hard rock
black sabbath's metal
>>
>>63297703
>>63297762
Acid jazz and trip hop are not jazz subgenres. When have you ever seen anyone discussing trip hop in a jazz thread?
>>
Who the fuck complain about the amount of rock sub-genres but not about the amount of electronic music sub-genres?

Follow your own rules
>>
>>63298357
Acid jazz technically is, trip hop isn't though, wtf
>>
>>63297762
>(goldie and Pendulum)
every fucking time
add squarepusher (who isn't even dnb, he's breakcore) and you have the only three artists non-/bleep/-autists know
>>
>>63298259
>I've often wondered why there aren't more "world" folk music threads on here.
The reason of this kind of question is, people prefer to stay on a thread about a topic they arent a huge fan of as long as this thread has many users, than to talk with 3 or 4 users on the thread about their favorite genre or etc...
>>
>>63298369

Squarepusher isn't breakcore you idiot
>>
>>63298369
Squarepusher is drill and bass.
>>
>>63298417

Some of his work is but just saying "he's breakcore" is as stupid as saying he's just dnb
>>
>>63298368
It's just an influence though. There's no improvisation, I don't think I've ever heard any of them use swing rhythm, etc.
If you're gonna call acid jazz a subgenre, you may aswell also say jazz rap, prog rock and every other genre that involves vague reference to jazz idioms a subgenre.
>>
>>63298465
oh yes, soul, funk and disco are as important as jazz, but its still there.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_jazz_genres

>Combined elements of soul music, funk, disco, including looping beats and modal harmony
>>
>>63298061
>claiming all music is dance music
that's retarded
>electronic music isn't a genre
that's 100% correct
>house and techno are well established genres like rock and jazz
this is true
>if electronic music is a genre so is string music
this is a fair comparison
>scaruffi is a blogger and fantano is a /mu/tant with a camera
both are true, though scaruffi is more just a critic that occasionally talks about other shit
>shitting on scaruffi
whatever
>fantano
whatever
>allmusic
don't use it so I don't know if it's any good or not
>rym
that's a legitimately decent site so I'm not sure why he'd have an issue with it
>and promoting discogs
that's also a genuinely good site, it in combination with rym are all you really need
>Ame
what
>"...the list goes on"
whatever
>claiming BoC are brotempo and nu-jazz is better
a retarded opinion but I've heard worse

Honestly this guy sounds no more autistic than your average /mu/tant while being more correct than the vast majority of /mu/
>>
>>63298448
that's basically a subgenre of breakcore in that it's what pretty much everything called breakcore now developed from
I get that the early shit was pretty close to jungle but ultimately it's breakcore in the same way jungle is drum and bass
>>
>>63298061
Lol'd
>>
>if electronic music is a genre, string music should be too

By this logic, if jungle is a genre tundra, desert must be genres too
By this logic if pornogrind is a genre, than actiongrind, horrorgrind, scifigrind, fantasygrind, romancegrind, adventuregrind should be genres too
By this logic if house is a genre, apartament should be a genre too.

IF national socialistic black metal is a genre, so anarcho capitalist black metal should be one too, and democracy black metal, anarcho primitivist black metal, comunist black metal.....
>>
>>63298579
I want to listen to nonmetal, i mean if metal is a genre, you must have a genre called nonmetal

The genre noble gas can be cool

When people say electronic music is not a style, they are assuming words can have just one meaning.

So they assume electronic music is a umbrella term.
When you get the word electronic and slap before the word music, you talk about music that is made with electronic instruments.

But when you have the single word electronic music, its the style, and the style doenst exacly need to have electronic instruments, some jungle bands goes full acoustic.

All my examples, have people assuming words have just one meaning, so if jungle is a genre why not tundra? Why jungle would be a genre and not tundra?
Its the same question that the guy that ask "if electronic music is a genre, why not string music?"
>>
there's nothing wrong with shitting on scaruffi
>>
>>63298701
So you think its perfectly normal to put all these under one genre, especially on a discussion board?

Electroacousmatic
Onkyo, EAI and tap music
Musique concrete
Industrial
Hip hop
Techno
House
Breaks
Trance
Garage
Ambient
Downtempo
Synthpop
PBR&B
>>
>>63298515
>claiming all music is dance music

Rock n roll, jazz, r&b, punk, metal, pop... all music originally intended for dancing to in clubs.

On the flip side IDM, ambient, downtempo are ''electronic genres'' not made for dancing to
>>
>>63299424
>punk
>metal

>dancing
>>
well then already you've proven not all music is dance music
not to mention claiming that genres can't evolve past their origins as dance music is silly, IDM evolved out of techno m8
>>
>>63299435
Headbanging is a form of dancing, yes.
>>
>>63299439
I wasn't saying its all dance music, just like not all electronic music isn't either.
>>
>>63299474
I'm not sure what point you were trying to make then anon
