What is some good black 1950s rock & roll?

I know entry level shit like Chuck Berry and Little Richard.

I only specify black music because I'm looking for more of an R&B sound than a rockabilly one.

Yes. I know most of the big guys, I'm looking for folks a bit more obscure.

Stuff more along the lines of "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" or "Ain't That A Shame"

I guess that would be straight R&B rather than rock & roll, but there wasn't always a clearly defined line between the two genres until the 1960s

Arthur Alexander (his first album)
Johnny Ace (one hit wonder)
Phil Phillips (like 4 good songs)

honestly a lot of doo-wop groups mixed with some rock and roll. Check out The Clovers. They're my favorite doo-wop group.

Mickey & Sylvia were a one hit wonder, too.

I can tell you that both of those artists are from New Orleans - there's tons of great compilations of this music.
the best one I found is pic related, particularly the first disc, which seems to be a dare to make the most concise collection of New Orleans music ever - got both those songs you mentioned on that disc funnily enough:

I can upload it for you if you'd like

no prob. I cant even remember how I came across this collection, but since getting even more into the music of N. Orleans since that series Treme came out, I realized that this collection - and the first disc in particular - is the only collection I found that feels truly definitive.

other good leads would be the Specialty label collections of some of the best singers from the era usually they^re designed like pic related... of The Specialty Story box set probably has tons of N. Orleans artists on it

The Cosimo Matassa Story collections again collect lots of N. Orleans artists via the dude at the recording console, plus they usually got arranged by Dave Bartholomew, who (surprise surprise) has his own collection spotlighting his own specific contributions

but the number of collections is way too many! I hope the N. Orleans angle gets you what you want. but like I say, theres plenty of leads on that first disc alone
