Creativity parts from the same point of expression and thus derive from the same object, if you mean covers or taking an specific chord structure yeah, there are not plagiarists but just appreciation for an specific sound taken.

the best parts of house of balloons didn't even involve Zodiac. He did get fucking screwed, but people underestimate Abel too much. At least for that first mix, he was on par with Zodiac

Actually, the BEST part of HOB was Zodiac's tracks (first 3 or 4 IIRC). You can see the sudden change in style by the 4th track, which IMO goes downhill. And even then, the producers were literally biting and copying Zodiac's style.
And yeah, Abel might be underrated, but the fact is everything after HOB has been a flop, and I don't think it was a coincidence that with Zodiac out of the pic the quality of the albums have gone to the shitter.
