I always listened to Eminem, but after listening to this, I got into a lot of hip hop, and now I listen to at least 10-15 hip hop artists. Feels good man.

Honestly, Killer Mike - R.A.P. Music, Kendrick Lamar - GKMC, and A$AP Rocky - Live.Love.A$AP got me back into hip-hop a few years ago. Before I was big into bands like Fugazi, Bad Brains, Rancid, etc. I still love those bands, but at the time I hated a lot of hip-hop/rap music.

I was 14, my sister showed me this when she got back from college for winter break, and this EP put on to older Macklemore, Wu-Tang, Madvillain, and from there on out I got into more experimental stuff. I would say Madvillain was the big turning point, but I wouldn't have discovered that (at the time I did) without The Vs.

You can’t define what “that kind of behavior or fashion or lifestyle” actually is, nor will you ever be able to. That’s because you don’t use “hipster” to describe an actual group of people, but to describe a fictional stereotype that is an outlet for literally anything that annoys you.
The twist, of course, is that if it weren’t for your own insecurities, nothing that a “hipster” could do or wear would ever affect you emotionally. But you are insecure about your own authenticity - “Do I wear what I wear because I want to? Do I listen to my music because I truly like it? I’m certainly not like those filthy hipsters!” - so you project those feelings.
Suffice it to say, no one self-identifies as a hipster; the term is always applied to an Other, to separate the authentic Us from the inauthentic, “ironic” Them.

A lot of people call me a hipster. It is not a term that I like or appreciate. Any way, there was a time when I was a dadrocker who only listened to Stevie Wonder and Queen and thought that "rap" was all stupid shit about gang violence and drugs. This album changed that for me. It made me want to find new music when I heard it, which led me on along journey and eventually to /mu/.

I didn't even realize that I carried this feel inside of me all this time
Before this album came out, I was a horrible jazz-snob, quite comparable to rockists. That record changed a lot, it turned me insto someone who can try to enjoy any kind of music independent of complexity or skill required to perform it.
I used to only listen to the radio, but I'd always remember weirder songs from the radio (all those one-hit wonders in the 90's...) but this album really got me into everything- more eclectic music, dating a girl who also liked this, writing more music myself as a result of wanting to write a song better than 'Crown of Love'.
Reflektor was a bit of a disappointment for me, but Funeral is always going to be a weird monument for me.

Made me realise that more experimental =/= better and that there's nothing wrong with liking accessible music. Guess you could say it 'de-/mu/ed' me.
Not even an album as much as the chance to play music in this game got me into wanting to listen to more music because I could "play" it. I think it led to just about everything I have ever listened to because before this game music was very "meh" to me.
