Eskaton's 4 Visions is kinda the obvious one. It's got the vaguely operatic vocals over pounding rock drums and bass really high in the mix and harmonic structures that tend to move very slowly and in sections.
I'm also gonna say to try some John Coltrane. Particularly pic related because Vander adores the guy and took huge amounts of inspiration from his music.
