your music is fine, i can't really find anything particularly wrong with it, but your sound is not super interesting to me

I'm really looking forward to this summer. Reflecting Records will hopefully be up and running with two of our very own from /mu/ and an eccentric glitch artist from Ohio. You'll be seeing me on compilations from Xenomorph Records, Cellar Door Tapes, an Electronomicon/Dhatura Records joint effort, and the Electronomicon Republic.
>>55328360
I really have to agree with the other guy above, there's nothing wrong at all, but there's not much that really grabs me. It kinda reminds me of a wilder, twangy-er version of Blind Melon and some other alternative 90s stuff. Stemming from my own tastes, I'd tone everything down a bit, but there's really nothing wrong at all.
>>55328411
Great cover! I'm really digging rain delay. wheel and untitled are wonderful.

NEW ALBUM OF ALL IMPROVISED JAM RECORDINGS OUT TONIGHT.
get fucking hyped
>>55328682
Playing is kinda sloppy, and there is very little atmosphere or build-up. Props on being an actual band with multiple members though. For being recorded in a studio it sounds like shit, hope you didn't pay too much.
>>55328560
One or two synth textures droning on for a few minutes a piece. Completely lacks substance, could be made in an afternoon with audacity. The font in your artist profile pic looks like something a brostep artist would use.
>>55328360
Your ear for comparisons is really bad, neither sounds anything at all like the bands you mentioned. Songs are good, catchy, maybe flesh them out a bit, include a bridge with your verses and choruses every once in a while. Nothing new but I never expect innovation in this genre tbh (nix the damn experimental tag, it's misleading).
>>55328411
Nondescript. Synths range from bland to cheesy. Melodies is weak. I'd listen to this once and then forget about it completely. The solos are frankly embarrassing.
>>55328360
The old thread isn't dead yet but okay.

I'm currently working on a small acoustic album with a few acoustic covers and some originals, for now I just wanna share this particular track, my own interpretation of Agalloch's "Kneel To The Cross", with some influences from the original song written by Sol Invictus. I'm almost certain you'll like it, I did my best to blend elements from both the original and Agalloch's cover, while adding my own bluesy influences for something unique.

Since Sol Invictus is a personal favorite of my mine, I listened to your cover. While the mixing of the guitar is a bit too intrusive for my personal taste, the cover is pretty neat and you certainly gave it your own spin.
I downloaded the EP and will listen to it later.
Cheers!
>>55328995
Thanks for the listen, the feedback, and the download man. It's super appreciated. As a fan of both Agalloch and Sol Invictus, I guess I've been hoping other fans would appreciate my take, and I'm glad you did. I won't defend the mixing on it, my recording process is pretty raw and bare-bones, haha.

you still around and in the mood to tear up another one? i would really appreiate your honesty.
>>55329206
Rad shit. Lo-fi songsters take note, this is how you do it. Maybe turn up the volume a bit on some of them.
>>55328923
Solo stuff is cool, sounds good. Songs kinda go on for too long imo. Your band's song is way too compressed, it sounds artificial.
>>55328788
Shit, you're prolific. Listened to some stuff off the first two. Wouldn't say I feel bad, more like watching a camp horror movie than anything. Like the ambient ones better than the ones with beats, which are just cheesy to the max. Have the same problem with it that I do with a lot of dark ambient, though. Sounds like you recorded an empty room and put some reverb on it.
>>55328814
Lay off the reverb, sounds like it was recorded in a gymnasium. Acoustic guitar sounds pinched and nasally, drums are too boom-y. Overall, it's very chaotic sounding, but not in a good way. Sounds like everything's fighting to be heard over everything else.
>>55328993
Great stuff, might cop. Very mellow, good vibes. Cool use of field recordings. C-22 seems a bit long though, there's gonna be a ton of blank space at the end of each side.
>>55328823

>>55328360
My friend played this song yesterday and I was kinda surprised to learn it was from his high school classmate. A lot of the stuff he uploaded was amateurish, but there's a few songs with really progressive beat selection and his flow isn't horrible. Don't really know what to call it, clear hip-hop and free verse influences
https://nodji.bandcamp.com/track/olas-pa-paola
>>55329336
Thanks for the listen and the critique! Much appreciated and it's definitely thosethings I'm currently working on to improve that kind of stuff.
>Have the same problem with it that I do with a lot of dark ambient, though.
You might want to give the third thingie, "Todessektion Terra", a listen. This one has a lot more going on throughout.
I might be putting this on BC. I'm not sure.
http://vocaroo.com/i/s1ISPqBYGN0i
>>55329338
Impossible to criticize. Don't charge money for this bullshit though.
>>55329380
Cool stuff. Would be interested to see a huge list of all the samples you use. It's obvious that genuine care went into making this. Rich in detail without demanding too much attention, would be good as either ambiance or an active listen. Get better graphic design.
>>55329316
Reminds me of Andrew Bird, Ted Leo, et al. Melodies meander a bit for my taste. Sounds tight as fuck. You guys are better when you rock out, the slow stuff is kinda boring.
>>55329329
Point me to it, brohan.
>>55329461
I definitely enjoyed the song you linked, not sure about his other work.

Male vocalist needs to stop worrying so much about affecting a hard rock voice and try to sing in tune. A lot of my problems with this stem from the fact that the recording is beyond shitty, you need to work with your garbage set-up, not against it. The guitar playing is often in poor taste, branch out from the palm-muted power chords a bit. Sounds like it was fun to record anyway. Album cover is supremely stupid, though I doubt you care about that.
