How do i get tinnitus without hearing loss /mu/?

I'm really into Noise and i think having a high pitch ringing sound in my ear permanently would be awesome. You might think I'm joking, but I'm not. It's like making the choice to get a tattoo, you only do it if you're committed enough. I've thought about it for a while, and i think I'd really like to do this.

What's the best way to go about it?

Make your own noise music that simulates tinnitus fegget.

OP, you're fucking stupid.
>>
Just slap your ears until they bleed, then shoot yourself.
>>
>>55262938
That doesn't really seem like a safe way.

I mean is there a certain frequency i can listen to on full blast or something?

>>55262991
Just because you have a different view on this doesn't mean mine is dumb.

>>55263004
>edge
whatever. I'm being serious, and most of the responses I've gotten are not serious. I'm really into noise music, when i say that, i mean really into it. I'd be fine having a high pitch frequency in my ear. I've had it before after concerts, but it hasn't been permanent like i want.
>>
Wouldn't it make it more difficult to listen to noise music?
>>
>>55264016
Not really. It would kind of enhance it imo. Also, when you play music loudly, you don't hear your tinnitus over it.
>>
>>55263925
you are permanently damaging your hearing, something that cannot be reversed. what happens when you get out of this noise phase? you are completely fucked, and you will get out of this phase, its basic human psychology.

if you really want your music to sound harsh, i will give you my old laptop with a fucked up soundcard that distorts its audio to your liking.

Tinnitus IS hearing damage - there's no getting tinnitus without damaging your hearing. Basically by doing this you'll be blocking yourself from being able to ever hear certain frequencies again, and replacing it with the ringing. So if you want the ringing that's fine, but you'll be unable to hear certain frequencies in noise music you can hear now. If you think the ringing is worth losing out on certain sounds, then go for it.
>>
>>55264115
Not everyone who has tinnitus has hearing loss. I'm looking for ways to get it without hearing loss.

It's not a 'phase'. Like i said, it's like getting a tattoo, yes it's permanent, but it means something to me.
>>
Oh Boy! I'm soooo uploading this to r/4chan!
>>
>>55263925
>Just because you have a different view on this doesn't mean mine is dumb.
No dude, it really is fucking dumb. Lol. Comparing it to getting a tattoo is fucking retarded. You can get a tattoo removed, nor does it affect any of your senses. You're purposely going to cripple one of your senses just because you think it would be cool. You're a moron.
>>
>>55264228
dude. just take my laptop.
and yes it is a phase, just like me and punk, and then rave. its a phase
also it will make music listening very unpleasant, this is something that is going on inside your ear compared to inside the driver of a headphone. its much different.
now fuck off and kill yourself edgelord
>>
>>55264154
>there's no getting tinnitus without damaging your hearing
I don't think that's true. I've had tinnitus for over a year. I went to a ENT specialist, they tested my hearing in one of those sound booth things and said it was perfect.

Not sure why anyone would want it though. It's complete hell. I have to play some white noise or ambient music every night just to be able to get to sleep.
>>
>>55264312
It's not crippling it. Just adding something to it. And it's not to be 'cool'.

You can show off a tattoo, but you can't show off tinnitus. It's a personal thing, i feel like i have a real connection to harsh noise. As corny as that may sound, I'm serious.
>>
This is one of the stupidest things you could do to yourself. You're going to grow out of this phase so don't fuck up your hearing permanently.

Whatever you say, man. If you want tinnitus, do what I did (when I was young and didn't know any better), I listened to music full blast through ear buds for extended periods of time.

You're welcome. I guess.
>>
>>55262884

I have tinnitus and it fucking sucks.
I have to listen to music constantly to not hear a ringing sound, and I often can't sleep because of it (so I keep music on when I sleep as well).

I am starting to have hearing loss because of it as well.

OP why would you want something like this fucking hell
>>
>>55262884
Maybe you should do the trial version where you just play high-pitched sine waves extremely loud in your room for months on end and see how you like it.

Oh and before you think you'll get any major hearing loss doing this, I have tinnitus but can still hear perfectly fine at all frequencies. I was smart enough to stop once I first started experiencing tinnitus.
>>
>>55262884
Same here OP, I feel really connected to silence so I'm thinking of cutting off my ears to be in eternal silence
Anyone know how to cut off my ears without it hurting?

> I went to a ENT specialist, they tested my hearing in one of those sound booth things and said it was perfect.

ENT specialists check your hearing range between 800 - 5khz. Tinnitus starts usually starts at the upper range (15khz - 17khz)

I dont know if you're trolling or not, but as one that have had tinnitus for 7 years now, trust me on the fact that you do not want tinnitus.

Not only is tinnitus a permanent damage to your ears, but an indication on decaying hearing.

You're a fucking dick to anyone who actually suffers from it.
>>
>Realised I had tinnitus three years ago
>almost drove me nuts
>It's about half the volume now, disappears completely about 50% of the time
>can finally appreciate silence again sometimes
>cool

The worst thing about tinnitus is the regret that you could have prevented it. Once you accept it then it gets far better. Stress and worry usually exacerbate it a lot too.
>>
>>55264972
I hear it worst in silent places, like a parked car or something. I hear the ringing, and the more I focus on it, the louder it gets until it feels very loud inside of my head or something.
>>
>>55265089
That happens to me too, but it just ends up blending into the background at some point. I've just learned to live with it. It kinda sucks not remembering what true silence sounds like though.
>>
>>55265221

How long have you guys had it for?
>>
>>55265268
10 years.
>>
>>55265268
About 5 or 6 years. Gave it to myself by listening to music on earbuds too loudly.

this, +tfw have good noise cancelling headphones or earplugs and music stops (even for a second between tracks)
>>
>>55265299
I've had it for 7 years now after not having plugs at a metal concert. The first 6 months was the worst. It kept me awake at night and made me depressed.

It has progressively gotten better to a point where even when it's completely silent, I have to think about it to hear it.

It acts up if I'm tired or if I've been at a loud gig, but now I always wears plug.

The fuck?

You're confusing me with a different poster. Learn to read please. I have tinnitus.

Also, source that they only check between 800 and 5k? I've tested online too and my hearing is perfect (not that online testing would be completely accurate). But my hearing isn't affected, i just have the noise, constantly.
>>
>>55265027
>This is like wanting to go color blind because you like black and white movies.

THIS.
>>
>>55265319
Yep, loud music through ear buds is how I got it, too. Shit's weak.

>>55265387
Yeah, the first time I experienced it is burned into my memory. I was actually asleep and was having a dream about Pokemon Blue and I was in Lavender Town. I was exploring the town when I started to hear an extremely loud buzzing noise. It didn't stop and I woke up because of it. When I did wake up, I still heard the ringing and was very concerned.

sorry m8

>Also, source that they only check between 800 and 5k?
It might be 800 to 7k, but they only check the area that affects speech recognition, which is typicaly 800 to 7khz.

To be categorised as deaf you need hearing damage that afflicts that area of your hearing, they dont give two shits about anything above 15khz, you wont hear anything above that anyway when you turn 45.
