Shoegaze is like a mother's hug or womb I guess. What I mean is, it surrounds you with sound (I'm assuming you're listening with headphones) to the point of being unable to escape it. One Kevin Shields interview where he talks about the set-closing 30minute long "noise holocausts" has him saying that at first a lot of people really were hurting, but after 10 minutes the pain melts away and there's an indescribable of acceptance and numbness (and tinnitus), which kind of sums of the entirety of the genre—often un-understandable vocals and no sense of sonic direction mixed with acceptance that there are things you aren't meant to hear/understand/know.
Shoegaze basically says to me "Accept every experience, even the painful experiences, as life".

I wasn't a huge fan of the voice, thought the mixing was odd (I wanted either more vocals or more intrumentation), and thought it was a little slow.
Mainly the second one, I'm definitely into a variety of vocalists and slow music but this one just didn't catch me.
