ITT: albums that are far too long, but you wouldn't make them any shorter because all the tracks are great

Pic related
Also, Spanish Key is obviously the best track.

Maybe remove starfuckers but aside from that

OP here. This is the second album I was thinking of when I made this thread. I usually leave a rest between each disc when I listen to the full thing but it's still tiring sometimes.
>>
>>54845302
>not Miles Runs the Voodoo Down
>that god-tier groove that builds throughout the track
Yikes.

But yeah, that's one of the few albums that long that justifies its length.
>>
>>54845594
>>54845302
Yea I saw the title and it was first thing to come to mind. I think it's admirable that the entire thing is lacking filler, but it is a lot in one sitting.

>>54845361
>>54845302
Agree with these, all good albums though of course.
>>
>>54845594
Yeah, I do the same. Taking it one disk at a time is far easier in terms of time and feels.

I'm not a musicologist or anything, but there's this repeated part in Spanish Key where it sounds like the chords underneath are changing or something while the rest of the music stays exactly the same, but it has this really great effect where it creates these cool dissonances and puts it into a different context.

I could be describing it wrongly, but I really like the way it sounds.

Scaruffi general?
>>
>>54845900
same
>>
>>54846030
If you seriously write off Soft Machine's Third simply because Scaruffi likes it you can just fuck off.
>>
>>54846443
LOL NO if you like any album scaruffi/pitchfork/fantano likes ur a drone lol :*)
>>
>>54846030
He only gave Fragile a 7/10
Soundtracks got an 8
>>
>>54846443
Oh well excuse me. Is it my fault Scaruffi got so shallow interest in music? I just make fun of him cause it's the fair thing to do. He's not trying hard enough, and the same goes for his followers: Lazy, cowards, always in their comfort zone when talking about music.

>too long
>but its perfect

OP are you mentally retarded or are you pretending to be retarded as a joke?
>>
>>54846629
Whom are you quoting???
>>
>>54846629
an album can be perfect but too long.
It being too long isn't a flaw in the album, it's a flaw on the listener, which is fine.
>>
>>54845336
my first thought but then I realized that I don't actually ever mind when an album is long
>>
>>54846711
Oh wow that's so deep dude. Like, what if the critic is the real artist??
>>
>>54846711
you're an idiot
>>
>>54846798
what the fuck are you reading? he didn't imply either of the things you said.

just because you don't understand what someone means, doesn't mean they're being pretentious
>>
>>54846878
>it's not a flaw in the album, it's a flaw on the listener

what does this even mean? It makes no sense. Are you saying a listener can be wrong? Are you saying every listener can be wrong and a completely hated album can actually be amazing?

You're an idiot as well.

>flaw on the listener
jesus christ
>>
>>54846949
it is, actually

if the listener has autism

>>
>>54846711
>>54846949
Virtually any perceived flaw in an album is neither a flaw in the album itself, nor a flaw in the listener. It's merely a failure of communication between the two.
>>
>>54846711
your a funny lil fella
>>
>>54846711
everyone here bashing this post. I get what you're saying dude.
>>
>>54846741
>>54846798
What there didn't make sense/was pretentious?

An album can be 100% perfect but 10 hours long. If I don't like it because of it's length, it's my fault that I'm not willing to put the time in...
>>
>>54847116
Yeah, it "would" be your fault, if such thing actually existed.

Nice way of saying you'll never be at fault, patrician guy.

>>54847153
that's the exact opposite of what I'm saying.
I'm just saying an album being too long isn't a fair criticism if it's full of high quality content.

>>54847171
Doesn't really bother me.
>>
>>54847116
but an album can't be objectively good. Music isn't objective. The listener decides whether or not they like it.
That's like saying oh wow this sandwich is amazing I just don't like the way it tastes.
>>
>>54846949
i doubt he means it's the listeners fault.

i think he meant to say to the listener its a flaw, as in, because time is relative, whether an album is too long or not is dependent on the person listening
>>
>>54845302
Lol, what? Nah, man.
>>
>>54847316
yeah which means it's a 'flaw' in the album.

an album can't be objectively flawed because there's no objective standard of music.
>>
>>54847316
also that's time what relativity means you fucking idiot.
