I really struggle to get into jpop outside of kyary, capsule, and a handful of others. I find kpop much more accessible with slicker production. there's a tonne of great japanese music that isn't jpop though

It's modern because it's chasing newest western trends and I don't understand how that makes it better than j-pop.
Japan doesn't give a fuck and just does what it wants that's why we get gems like perfume or whacky shit like Momoiro clover (which korea tried to copy too).
