I'd say that at most a third of the music I listen to is from anglophone countries, and yet some 80-90% has English lyrics. Somehow most artists feel the need to be international, and English is the lingua franca. Icelanders and frenchfags seem to be the exception, at least in the world of western pop music.
Kinda sucks, because other languages can sound so pretty - but i can hardly blame them, considering that I'm contributing to it by posting on an English language board

Marijuaan is much less common in Japan than in America and Europe. There are marijuana plant in Japan but people don't smoke it; for having marijauna you go straight to jail, even if you didn't smoke it. High schoolers do a lot of things for fun. After all, I don't think every high schooler in America smokes weed, do they?
Where I live is Kansai reigion, but in a very small town, so there isn't much music here. If you go to the cities in Kansai, you can hear all kinds of music, lots of energetic hard rock type mostly. I believe Osaka is where many of the noise rock bands originated.

I'm dutch, most of the music I listen to is instrumental but when I listen to music with lyrics they're often English. It isn't neccesarily that I go looking for music that's in English it's just that most music is in English. I don't have a problem With this it just bothers me that English has become the standard for Dutch artists, which just doesn't make any fucking sense to me. Well it does, it's because they think that they wouldn't have a chance to make it big outside of their country if they don't sing in English. Still, though it surpises me that so many musicians choose to express themselves in a second language instead of just having some integrity and singing in the language their best at.

I think because Japanese speech doesn't have to put tone on the syllables, you can "stretch it" a lot? I don't know the verb for what I want to say.

The Indie bands are the fucking worst. They try to be all poetic, but they all fail miserably. I just don't get it, if you want to be real, if you want to be poetic why would you choose a second language? Everytime you've been in a very emotional situation you've expressed yourself in the language you're best at, why would you water it down by badly translating it?
Unless you've studied english poetry or something, keep to your own language if you want to be real, or whatever the fuck that means anyway. And even then, be like Herman van Veen or something, who sings dutch when he's in the Netherlands, sings in French when he's in France, sings in German when he's in Germany and sings in English when he's in a country where they speak fucking English.
