I'll offer this as anothe example. B L A C K I E is using almost all acoustic instruments to produce these beats. very few artists are using actual acoustic instruments, most taking samples, or using synths, or completely computer generated sounds

If we're going by most experimental, the number one is Spiral Walls, then it's cLOUDDEAD. Then #3 would be something like Dalek vs. Faust or another one of their albums. Or maybe The Ziggurat, but that would be the most experimental in terms of concept alone.

Don't look at the track list as a set of songs. They are movements, or not even movements, but a specific musical ambiance. The artists are collaborating with a specific image in mind. Consider Death Grips vision of a psychotic and paranoid futuristic sound. LM is much the same way. They had a specific image in mind. The tracks are not individual packets to be consumed, but they are as a movement between ambiances.
Similar to the Situationist concept of Derive:

I have to admit, when I first listened to it, my first distaste was how the songs dont "flow" like a whole traditional album would.
Going from Black Up and pre-ordering this and hearing #CAKE and They Come In Gold as singles, it kinda set me up for a big disappointment.
I checked the artwork that I have for the vinyl and noticed how the songs are in subsets. Definitely gives it a newer light and perceptive.

M.I.A.'s albums always have a catalogue of eclectic influences/sounds. But yes, MAYA is probably her most experimental. It's more digital and distorted than Arular (and Kala) which is vibrant and colourful.
