I enjoyed the first song but after that most of the vocals got annoying to me. I really like Melt-Banana though, I find the vocals on their albums perfectly tolerable. I tried with Mikgazer but couldn't.
As far as the best shoegaze album, I'd have to go the pleb route and say Loveless. Here's my top 5:

overall i think whirr is pretty overlooked. i think they're very fucking good and stay pretty far from the loveless formula of shoegaze.
