it feels like the song goes no where, just a generic 2005 house beat with some progressive house styled stabs/plucks with automation and some percussion over it
>>
>>54045549
literally babby's first fruity loops project

martin garrix is less generic than this tune

it does sound nice but that willow track...all the samples are really out of key with each other. just makes it sound really weird, but not in a good way

hahaha fucking skream. he was never a good producer tbh, his mix downs were amateur and his drum sounds were not original. the guys an ace dj though he should just sick to that.
>>
Is Arca /bleep/?
>>
https://clyp.it/dcohocgy

would you dance to this lads?
>>
>>54051606
I would if it wasn't so fucking normalised. I can barely feel the grooves in my chest.
lurk more /prod/ and learn how to mix and master m8

How have the mighty fallen.

I don't want to sound like an asshole but I could make a tune like that.

>>54051606
gib chant sample pls

>>54051606
No, I would never consider dropping Arca tune in the club.
Therefore Arca is not /bleep/.
>>
>>54051661
thats not my fault, it must be clyp.its compression algorithm. for some reason the intro appears louder on the waveform on the clyp but in reality there is a lot of dynamic range throughout the song as i hate brickwalled masters.

>>54051686
>gib chant sample pls
no one is getting the id for that. im not even going to clear it, its that obscure.
>>
>>54051766
Did you just type in "african chant" on youtube?

Wait, you actually did.

haha

>implying mastering can be done at a pro level by mere mortals
>>
>>54051830
Isn't mastering just magic?
>>
>>54051807
haha holy shit. i own the actual vinyl though. guess i will have to clear it. its pretty obscure though so i dont imagine that it would be that expensive

>only plebs sample from youtube as the quality is so shite.
>>
>>54051860
>>54051807
plus i think id only have to clear the mechanical copyright as that is probably an old folk song passed down through generations
>>
>>54051875
Yes, the composition is probably public domain by now.
>>
>>54051830
>>implying that prod knows what they are talking about
well, there are some experienced people in there, you know.
>>implying mastering can be done at a pro level by mere mortals
depends on what you call "pro level" but it can be done on your shitty laptop way better than that guy did it.
>>
>>54051932
>>54051932
>well, there are some experienced people in there, you know.

i agree with that but most dont have a clue and can actually give you wrong advice based on their limited knowledge.

>mate no pro producer actually 100% masters his own stuff.
>that guy obviously posted a work in progress which was obviously unmastered and had an unfinished mix just to get opinions
>no one can master on shitty laptop speakers.

i bet your the type of guy who thinks mastering is the same thing as mixing. most of the time a track will get mixed then will lay dormant until the full ep/lp/etc is finished and the mastering engineer will master all songs together to get a cohesive sound and dynamics throughout the whole release.

yes you can buy izotope or whatever to master in the ox but it will sound no were near as good as a pro mastering engineer would
>>
>>54052033
It takes time and dedication but you can learn audio engineering basics and get some basic equipment and FUCKING DO IT FOR YOURSELF.

Mastering isn't magic, it's just easy to fuck up.

>i agree with that but most dont have a clue and can actually give you wrong advice based on their limited knowledge.

I couldn't agree more tho.
>>
>>54052152
mate your talking to me as if i dont know what im talking about. simple fact is that i dont want to master my own tunes and would rather get the guy who is passionate about mastering and is really fucking good at it to do it.

honestly all labels will have a mastering studio either inhouse or have a working relationship with one. all pro /bleep/ tunes are mastered by specialists. do you think anyone at hessle did the final mastering for their releases?

i know i could learn how to do it (i already know how to do it) but why be the jack of all trades when you can be the master at one.
>>
>>54052246
>i dont want to master my own tunes
lazy fuck
I'm well aware that all labels use "specialists" to master their shit, as some of our stuff was released by a label and they asked us to don't even attempt to master it ourselves.
I'm kinda mad about this though, it ain't that much of a hassle and it makes me feel neat that I did everything about my tracks - even if they sound inferior compared to "professional masters".
>why be the jack of all trades when you can be the master at one
lazy fuck
>>
isn't it best to get someone else to master it purely to have a different set of ears on it? even if you are a top-of-your game mastering man, you still go to someone else usually, no?

at least that's what i've heard rashad becker say... but then he mastered his own record so who knows what's going on lmao
>>

Any man planning on going to Dimensions? Line up sounds nice and since I can't make it to Dekmantel, might as well go somewhere else this summer.
>>
>>54052681
there is literally no musical qualities apart from the sample so fuck knows what you are talking about. im not even the guy who posted it.
>>
>>54053215
dimensions is incredible, same for outlook if you want to substitute better music for better vibes
>>
>>54053120
I think I preferred it how it was before.

why though? it was a basic wip, it wasn't mixed, the bass sounded shit, there was no movement through the track moving into the next section. the vocals the same, just has some processing on some parts. i think it sounds much better now

this track is literal marmite. some people hate it, and some people love it.
>>
>>54053277
Well am I right in thinking you've changed up the way the vocals are chopped since the previous version? In this version it doesn't seem to lie over the beat as well, like the timing of the vocal doesn't seem to fit as nicely with the 4/4 of the drums underneath it. Certain accents of the vocal fell on certain beats in the previous version that made it sound nicer. Unless you haven't changed it and I'm imagining all of this.
>>
>>54053261
I prefer better music lol
You're going to one of those?

I'm planning my trip, but that's not cheap. 500€ just for plane + festival and camping ticket. I'll have to save for a couple of months if I want to go there.

lol you people have no right to call others plebs
>>
>>54053347
yeah it comes in a bit earlier but its aligned to the grid. maybe ive nudged it by accident and that's why its a bit off.
>>
>>54053411
i've been to dimensions once and outlook twice in the past 2 years, not gonna go again.

yes it is expensive. as a rough estimate, it cost me £900 for this year when we just went to outlook. worth it though, honestly...that feeling of walking onto the beach party in the first couple of nights, or walking round that corner in the moat...worth every penny
>>
>>54053420
>lofi master race
shitting up your ix because you dont have the skill to make a good mix. unless you are using hardware their is no excuse for lo-fi unless your trying to hide your ineptitude
>>
>>54053445

>>

it's something you can't understand without being there, there's a very certain vibe to it. especially arriving at the moat, it's like walking into another dimension
>>
i dunno why people get so high and mighty over lo-fi stuff

>yeh m8 delroy edwards is shit hes just unskilled

lmao alrite lad would like to see you put out a track that goes off like 4 club use only or something. minimal masterpiece tbh

also
>implying shit like syro isn't mostly (all?) hardware and isn't also hi-fi as fuck
>>
>>54054085
mate minimal is not lo-fi
the unknown artist RAL series is a master piece of minimal and its mixed to perfection. delroy Edwards is not lo-fi, hes minimal. using analogue gear doesn't make you lo-fi
>>
>>54053996

Check out Tri Angle's discog:
The Haxan Cloak, Fis, Balam Acab, Holy Other, Evian Christ.

Stuff like Dalhous, Wen, mssingNo

>>
>>54054224
do you honestly think that drums that spanking would be at that low of a bitrate?

no one likes digital artifacts. total harmonic distorion from analouge gear is nice and warm, thats were the lo-fi comes from not digital samples.
>>
>>54054248

I feel like if you like Sd Laika then you'd enjoy Tri Angle's output, at least I do. Maybe Jam City.

>>
>>54054266
I absolutely love Tri Angle records but nothing they've released comes close to the same aesthetic of That's Harakiri
>>
>>54054263
"Lo-fi (from the term "low fidelity") is lower quality of sound recordings than the usual standard for modern music. The qualities of lo-fi are usually achieved by either degrading the quality of the recorded audio, or using certain equipment."

i think the part about distortion here is what's important m8...delroys music is obv distorted/saturated as fuck (as you said yourself), which makes it lofi regardless of digtial sample r8

lmao idiot
>>
>>54054263
i think our definitions of lo-fi are different. i'm no production wizard and i don't pretend to be, when i say lo-fi i mean stuff like this
