ITT: Post a sound or style that you're looking for, other people post albums and artists with that style.

>Symphonic/progressive rock with a distinctive, immediately recognisable, soulful vocalist, (think Mark Hollis or Frank Sinatra, or maybe someone like Barry White or Louis Armstrong)

I dont get the joke of the image.
>>
Raw Industrial (not EBM or First Wave)
>>53939625
Van Der Graaf Generator.
>>
instantly recognizable and soulful eh

Ambient with muffled skramz in the distance

>>53939905
graafmind
>>
Upbeat, fun, noisy, weird folk rock (I guess like NMH or Akron/Family)

>>53939625
Check out Procol Harum's Shine on Brightly and Paladin's Charge, they both exactly fit that description.
>>
Noisy folk with samples and ambient sounds.
>>53939917
Some of the stuff on Giles Corey I suppose.
>>53939960
NMH or Akron/Family

Free Jazz influenced rock.

You're welcome!
>>53940762
The Pop Group.
>>
Industrial/krautrock-influenced post-punk with baritone vocals
>>
>>53940814
Actually The Pop Group is my favorite band ever. So thanks, but I would apreciate another rec too
>>
>>53939625
marillion post-2000
>>
Feelsy though upbeat pop/rock, with some cheesy yet heartfelt keyboards and synths. Something like Kate Bush's Hounds of Love.
>>
>>53939625
>a whole generation of people will know Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka instead of Gene Wilder
>>
long repetitive tracks with a constantly repeating theme or melody, Visiting Friends by Animal Collective for example
>>
>>53941334
I'm not sure that's true. I think Wilder will be much more long-lasting.

Shit and Shine - Ladybird

Swans, Les Razilles Denudes, Lightning Bolt, Can, Neu
>>
Powerful, maybe even aggressive rap/hip-hop with heavy, noisy and catchy beats.

No Death Grips, no clipping.

why am i laughing at the image
>>
Synthesizers and acoustic guitars
>>
>>53941698
Ratking, if you haven't already
>>
Hip hop beats in a similar cratedigging vein to Dilla, Madlib, etc, but with a dark, warped sound to them. Not like overtly, just slightly off, but not so much that it's not still great. Mostly just different. So samples of stuff like Sun Ra, free jazz, noise, etc
>>
noise but not very noise

like midori
>>
>>53940936
Sorry that's the only rock/free jazz album we know.
>>
instrumental chillwave with vaporwave tendencies that makes you feel like you're on the beach and also doesn't suck tremendously (i.e. somewhat inventive and doesn't sound like yet another post on /r/newretrowave)
>>
>>53939625
Love would work but you've probably listened to that
>>
>>53943026
>like midori
Midori is punk not noise

His Young Heart 1.jpg
61 KB, 500x500
I don't know how to describe what I'm loking for but something like sad and at the same it makes you feel like there's hope and tells you that everything is going to be ok or something
I also love sweet soft and dreamy voices accompanied by accoustic guitars
for example:
>Daughter - HisYoungHeart
>Low Roar - Low Roar
>>
the noisiest noise you can think of

like health, pre, silver daggers, and abe vigoda had a drunken orgy
>>
whining about girls in a sad way with lots of metaphors, poppy synths, & guitar solos
>>
>>53942649
Caveman

Acoustic Guitar and vocals building into walls of sound.
>>
>>53941012
Ozma and weezer are good for that kind of thing, have you listened to them?
>>
Something drunk, dark, and noisy. Emphasis on drunk.

Calm, melancholic folk with honeyed bari/low tenor vocals and high falsetto/soprano.
>>

bacamarte - depois do fim

Math rock with thick, present bass, somewhat like Don Caballero
>>
>>53943742
Hozier

chunky noise pop like deerhoof or treats/reign of terror era sleigh bells

Dan Deacon, seconding Lightning Bolt
>>
>>53943682
You might like The Mollusk by Ween. The Blarney Stone is a very drunk-sounding tune, and some of the other tunes (eg Dancing In The Show Tonight and Polka-Dot Tail) sound a bit tipsy too.
>>
>>53941424
Glass Deers by BRAIDS
>>
>>53943682
>>53943790
Daughters fit both of these well imo.

I want more music like Daughters. Recorded inside a Pyramid and the Hit make me cream. Cky reminds me of them a bit but they lact the high pitched noisy goodness. Metz is okay but not really what im looking for.
>>
>>53943869
her first 2 albums are good

singles were too pop for me too
>>
>>53944022
Maybe I listened the pop ones. gonna look for the others, thnx
>>
dark, psychedelic, excessively beautiful progressive rock with dense production and extended jams

I already like The Mars Volta
>>
everything this song embodies:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOp-7TnGK6w
>melancholic, innocent, subtle reverb, female vocals is a plus, feels like i'm floating when listened to

or artists similar to THAT WAS THEN THIS IS NOW that isn't Blvck Ceiling

Techno Animal

This might be a stretch, but:
I've been into minimal sounding electronic music, like Sohn, Jamie XX, Son Lux, James Blake's debut album, and whatever the hell Thom Yorke's been up to lately. I'd love some more stuff in this vein, and I'd especially love it if it's blended creatively with organic sounds (acoustic guitar, piano, etc.)
>>
>>53943860
Somebody please help me.
>>
Something that sounds like Acid Bath pretty please. That underproduced yet melodic early/mid 90's grunge sound with some edge.
>>
>>53944163
Julianna Barwick maybe.
>>
>>53944100
Maybe Magma or koenjihyakkei? Prob too prog but might be worth checking out.
>>
>>53944222
I like them too. Zeuhl is great but I see it as more on the cartoony side of prog. I'm looking for something more ethereal and mysterious, but "big" sounding.
>>
>>53944100
Can - Tago Mago

was made by editing together extended jam sessions the band had. has both groovy songs and darker more experimental songs.

Also bring me coffee or tea is the best prog song ever written
>>
>>53944206
check out Airhead - For Years

múm
>>
Instrumental sludge/doom with tuned percussion (marimbas, bongos, etc.)
>>
>>53944272
Yessss, one of my favorites!

>>53944100
Unfortunately I've heard all the classics and a lot of stuff beyond that. Anyone have anything more obscure?
>>
>>53944313
Thanks, I've enjoyed the little of Airhead that I've heard before, so I'll check that out.
>>
>>53944217
>>53944335
thanks!
>>
>>53943880
I like RTJ but it's not exactly the same.

I used Sun Ra as an example of samples? That's probably the best comparison. Just kind of all around weird.

I've heard good stuff about Flatbush Zombies though
>>
>>53944623
Dat post time
>>
A Bluey-Folky Post-Hardcore

Bonus Points for both male and female vocals

Doesn't have to be english

pic unrelated.
>>
Goovey/ funking RnB beats layered in thick reverbish synths like drenched in them

and soulful emotive vocals to top it all off
