Chiptunes aren't my thing so it's hard for my to critic this. It does have a cute melody and I can tell you have an ear for songwriting. The drum program is very good
>>
>>53844781
hypnotic rhythm but really dislike the melodic content, sounds out of key. Kinda sounds like you drew random midi notes. Focus more on the drums/rhythm and work with more simple melodies
>>
>>53844768
thanks for the feedback, and yeah I agree with parts, especially on A Laughter From An Empty Room. I'm really proud of that song but looking back it sounds pretty cluttered. When I sample its always from something i think is funny or has nostalgic merit to me, so i use it as a way to reference things I enjoy.

Pretty standard drone. Wish the bell sounds came in sooner. Try working with more layers. I kept on expecting something more to happen, the idea to develop into something more

Listened to Theravada. I liked how the guitars (especially in the first two minutes) sounded like a huge orchestra, I thought I was hearing a hazy/over-reverbed version of The Rite of Spring. Interesting stuff.

Joy Divison vibes. Also sounds a little like deathconciousness as well. Feel like your influences are a little obvious so it doesn't sound original. Really liking this sonically, I feel like you have a grasp on production and know how you want it to sound. Great juxtaposition of the clean plucking guitar and the low passed distorted guitar. This would sound even better live. Drums could probably come in a bit sooner, I was getting bored near the 1:30 mark before the synth came in. But when the drums came it, it grabbed my attention again.

Keep it up :)

oh shit! Well thanks for the support. Sorry about 20... I had very little input on how the sound came out.

I've been super busy trying to get my life back in order to be honest. I sorta had a nervous breakdown back in October after the actual band lineup for Noise Climax broke up, and I haven't really picked up a guitar or anything since then. I am finally working on the 21 EP and I hope to have it out soon, actually. I finished working with all the drums and everything a few hours ago and now I'm about to record the bass parts... so it's just me instead of the other Lovejoys.

so yeah, haven't been here recently. How ya been m8?

Good voice, good playing and good songwriting. I'm not a huge fan of how the guitar is recorded, it sounds a little too boomy and dry. The only criticism I have as far as the composition goes is that I think your music would be really great with a little more variation with the instrumentals, a band would suit you.

Wheel was our bassist trying to do one of those "hey, let's be super sarcastic like on 18"

Actually all 3 of us had our own inputs on different EPs

18 was mine
19 was most Mordecai
20 was Dmitri
21 is just going back to me.

Honestly I wouldn't have minded not working with them if they had told me they didn't want to. Dmitri kinda did this thing where he got super moody and he used that as an excuse to treat people like shit and he got mad when I essentially said "fuck you, I'm not dealing with this anymore." Mordecai just doesn't wanna keep going anymore and that's fine. I totally respect his decision, I just wish he had told me that he felt like I was bugging him or something instead of playing nice with me.

>>53845927
Well that sounds pretty fucking rad. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

>>53845963
I try to give stuff my attention because I know it'd only be fair because that's how I'd want my stuff to be treated.

>>53845995
Thanks, man! The lyrics have always been a point of contention. They're either "too sarcastic" or "too emo" and it's just a thing where I can't win anyhow so I just do me.

Don't think it has to do with the program, its honestly my own mixing habits. Trying to make everything as loud as possible. There actually isn't any clipping but you're probably hearing the limiter on the master bus. Any tips to clean it up? Lower all the faders? Less compression?

That's actually a good point, Bandcamp and Soundcloud have different (though equally useful) purposes. I still think if you're gonna download something from one of these threads it's worth replying to their post to let them know, since that will draw other people to it and also keep the thread moving/bumped. Likewise if you listen to something that is kind of bad and there is an obvious reason (like a shitty recording or their guitar is super out of tune, that kind of stuff) it might be helpful to point out so that someone might take that to heart on anything they do in the future.
